So, I have been growing a few auto Super Silver Haze plants since Jan. 25th, so today marks a little over the allotted 60 days that it says that it takes for these plants to grow. But, while the plants have grown very tall and branched out nicely, theres extremely little actual bud on the main cola of the biggest plant! Most of the white hairs have darkened and some are even turning amber but the plant looks like it didn't produce anything really. It hasn't grown in a week and the only changes have been the hairs changing color. My question is, did I screw up somewhere and diminish my yield to practically nothing, or is the plant still growing and I should just wait and be patient for the buds to fatten up?

One of my other plants has been coming along nicely but I feel like the buds on that plant should fatten up as well. I will post pictures of both main colas so you guys have means of comparison. The skeleton-looking one is the one I am truly worried about, while I would hope and prefer the other one fatten up some more, but if it does not its not the end of the world.

It is a closet grow, grown under both a 250 HPS light and 400 MH light at the same time with 24/0 light cycle. The soil is a combination of some miracle gro organic soil and fox farms ocean soil. Only nutrients I added the whole grow was that Alaskan pure kelp food, as well as some ortho that said it was safe on flowering plants to kill off those pesky fungus gnats.

Thanks in advance!

More time needed imho, another 2-3 weeks(I wouldn`t worry about the hairs, have you checked the trics under magnification?) :Sharing One:

I would leave them awhile. There should be way more buds than I see and its hard at this stage to tell what went wrong. What are the nute numbers on the Alaskan nutes? Also whats in the ortho?Let me no this and I'll go from there.

bro, you should re-evaluate what you do because for 650w of light power this looks a bit under the average!
Even seen bigger plants under 250W!
Are you sure numbers and genetics right?

I haven't checked the trichs yet but I should probably do so soon, I just haven't gotten the microscope to do it yet. In regards to the numbers on the nutes, I am not sure. My friend told me to use the Alaskan stuff and he grows huge plants, this is my very first grow so I'm a true novice. I guess I should just be patient and wait it out the next few weeks. The light wattage numbers are correct, I promise. And the only issues the plants have had in the past were temperature issues during it's vegetative state due to it being too hot because of the lights, but I corrected that quickly.. The only other issue they have had that I can think of is the recent infestation of fungus gnats, and I just killed all those off.

Hopefully they'll fatten up in the next few weeks, if not I'd be really curious as to finding out what went wrong. Either way I will post the outcome. If anybody has any more tips or suggestions or an idea as to what had happened please let me know! In the meantime I'll be patiently waiting lol

What are your temperatures running in there and what is the distance between the lights and the top of the plants? Some of your leaf tips look pretty crispy to me by the pics and it looks like you have a little curling up on some of them.

Also, if they don't start fattening up, you might want to try cutting back that 24/0 light cycle a bit. Sometimes you get a particular pheno that has more light schedule dependent qualities than others do. On my last grow, I ran 24/0 and I had a DP Think Different and Buddha Purple Kush not flower on 24/0, and I'd say those are both pretty solid genetics, so sometimes freak things happen. Had another Think Different right next to the other one that didn't flower and it pumped out buds like no tomorrow.

There are also a few reports of different strains on here that didn't flower on what you'd consider conventional autoflower light cycles. In most to all cases, cutting the light back actually produced better results with those particular plants.

Just something to consider and my "My 2 cents"

The bulbs did you buy them new or got them from the friend or second hand?

I had bought the bulbs brand new, bought new ballasts and everything that went with them. But in regards to turning the light cycle down, I just may do that. I've heard the same thing after doing research online so I figure it's worth a shot. What light cycle would you recommend? 18/6? 12/12?

Oh and the lights are about a foot above the plants and the temperature ranges from like 75-81 degrees. Still too hot?

I now have it on the 18/6 schedule... Hopefully this works, fingers crossed!!

18/6 would be a good start; the extreme would be 12/12, meaning it has more of a photosensitive trait.

Having your HPS lights 12 inches above the plants is WAY too close. The average recommendation is usually between 18 and 24 inches. Here's a good test for you to try; take the back of your hand and place it at the top level of your plants (so the back of your hand is facing the light beating down on it, not your palm.) Hold it there for 5 or 10 seconds. If it's uncomfortably warm for your hand, then it's too warm for your plants. A good way to test this is to test with your hand, raise the light up in a 2 inch increment, then test again. Keep doing this and you'll find that sweet spot where it feels comfortable.

Do you have any air flow inside the grow space? Even a small 6 inch clip on fan blowing on the plants can help out; it keeps the branches and leaves moving, which strengthens limbs and helps prevent "hot spots" on the leaves from the light.

What are the dimensions of your grow space in cubic feet? What's your square footage growing area?
