New Grower Jet47 can be topped.

Any auto can be topped, but why? In the end they only take longer and there is no appreciable increase in yields.

I would never top an auto! Unless it was an accidental topping (lol aka my Santa) lst'ing would be much more benificial and does the same basic thing as topping, your promoting exon production for the plant will force lower shoots to raise towards the light. Topping is great for photos as they have time they can recover.
I can say as much as I was not trying to top my Santa, I was trying to lst and main top snapped off which actually has caused the rest of the plant to start stretching.
Though I suppose your 3-4oz pull speaks for it self... Next time, lst I bet you get 4-5 ounces ;)
Congrats on the great pull!

I pulled over 5 1/2 ounces on a topped auto. I have the grow log here to prove it too.

To answer the question why top, well 4 massive colas. No need for much LST. Not all plants do well with it.

Muddy, 70 days on a pineapple express and done. I think a Jet47 is leaning to the super auto side so it would take a bit longer anyhow.

I've done side by side comparisons, topped and not topped. Yields were the same, almost to the gram. But the topped ones took about a week longer to recover. Others here have done similar tests with similar results. If it's height control you're after, then LST is the way to go, unless time isn't a factor.

Jet47 is a ruderalis based dwarf stain, no super genetics, so it's going to finish in 10-12 weeks. Topped once I would expect them to take 11-13 weeks.

Do you have any examples of this? I would think a plant not doing well from LST is more user error than the result of the LST; LST should be very low stress and it allows more equal dispersion of light to hit the plant and training a plant to a space. There's little to no recovery time with the LST versus topping; that's why I ask :stylez rasta smoke:

With all do respect brother. I really love your thoughts on this.
I have not grown shit loads, however I have grown a few autos and if this is a dwarf plant then the others I have grown are midget plants.
I find jets to be a medium size plant with medium - strong side branching.

Maybe my scaling is off, have a few crazys beans, or the seed bank hosed me.

No, your scaling isn't off, just your terminology. Any plant that contains ruderalis is considered a dwarf, regardless of how big it gets. Most of the early autos were indica or indica dominant, so tended to stay a lot smaller. Once sativas were bred into them they started to get bigger. Because autos aren't 100% stable it's very common to see phenotype variations within a given strain. So it's not uncommon in any rudi based strain, such as Jet 47, to see 2-3 different phenos. You may have one pheno that can get 16 - 20" tall, while another might be a runt, getting no bigger than 10 - 12". As the breeders continue to refine their strains I expect these differences will be less, or we'll see different pheno types offered.

Here you go! See the purple in it? Should be a heavy flower. Been under 12/12 for a little more then 2 weeks with some photos. Think a 3 gal pot.
