Hi everyone, just looking for some advice on how far from your plants you hang your lights. I'm running 12x eb gen 2 strips at 270 watts. I've been lowering it slowly, started around 32" and am now down to about 28". Seedlings don't seem to care and lowering them has had zero affect on temperature, so I have been thinking about dropping them lower but wondering how close is to close especially for seedlings.

Sure someone will pop along shortly, I just do it a little a time, my 240w light for for me stayed at about a metre for seedlings then lower little by little keeping a eye on the girls. As I say more experienced peeps and peepets will no doubt drop by.

Thanks for your input @HaZyLaZy. I had it at 36" briefly ..but had to lower to get temps up.

Yea, just lower bit by bit leave them a little while and see how they respond. If your lights are passive cooled (Like mine) I found fan above the lights facing down helps to push warm her away from filter.. Filter and help to keep the warm air in tent.

I'm running 480 watts of EB2 at 4 inches no problem. I'm raising the lights up for the pictures but you get the idea. I've only gotten burns when the plants stretched into and remained on the lights for 30+ minutes.

When I was vegging I turned my lights down to 240 watts and 18" until three weeks when I switched to flower, increased the wattage and brought them to 4". Around 4" they hit max ppfd and no closer was better or worse. Check my current journal if you want

Thanks @Damien50 that's exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Absolutely crazy how close you can have these strips. I'll def go check out your grow. How hard are you running your strips? Mine are running around 1.15 amps each.

I'm running them at 480 watts across 12x 44" strips I used this guide
https://ledgardener.com/diy-led-strip-build-designs-samsung-bridgelux/

I wired mine in parallel with 14g solid core wire. I never paid attention to the amps to actually care though just the voltages
