Indoor Light distance

I have a 400 watt mh is was wondering how far I should put the light above my plants I have a fan blowing through the shield. And my autos are about 3 and half weeks old

Get them as close as you can without burning them mate.hold your hand at the top of the plant and lower the light,if its burning your hand,it's gonna burn your plant :smokebuds:

it depends bro.. how much vertical space do you have? do you want them to stretch a bit at first so you can LST them later or do you want them to have tighter node spacing? like it all depends and theres no right or wrong answer to this, its entirely based on the parameters of the equation. also what kinda plants are you growing photo or auto? if they were photo i might keep the light a bit closer to promote tighter nodes until its time to flip it to flowering.

I'm growing autos my grow space is about 10 ft high 4x4 I have Mylar on 3 of the walls one end is open . Like I said before I do have an oscillating fan blowing through the shield I'm gonna take the advice and lower em as far as I can thanks again to all:jaw:
