I bought this Light to go along with my G8LED. it is a prototype and uses 8w LED. has anyone ever grown with 8w before? any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
8w PROTOTYPE
In 2012 Lighthouse Hydro, the manufacturers of the best selling LED grow light in the world (the Blackstar Series Grow Lights) decided to build the most flexible and powerful grow light platform spare no cost. THE MOST POWERFUL LED GROW LIGHT ON THE PLANET
Lighthouse Hydro pioneered the Led grow light industry with the introduction of 3w chips in 2009. You will rarely if ever see a Blackstar in a head to head competition because they were just more powerful than the competition. If you do, it was usually with a light 2X to 3X the price. Keeping that tradition alive they introduced the first light on the planet using 8w chips. Every LED in this unit is equivilant to more than 2X of the traditional 3w chips.
Semi-Modular LED Cluster Design
The Prototype 8w's revolutionary design has now separated the different LED boards into modular clusters, this means you can replace modules if necessary.
Completely Customizable LED Spectrum and intensity
It's never a good idea to not use all of the LED's you have in your light. Originally, some companies toyed with the idea of "changing the spectrum" of their LED's by simply putting some of them on a switch and turning banks of them off. Others had a switch dim their red LED's to seem like they were changing color spectrum. The 8w prototype is the most flexible grow light on the planet. The modules are independently controlled via their own dimmer and power cord. Have seedlings or vegging plants, crank down the intensity of the individually controled red modules and spin with a veg dominant spectrum. Want to push the envelope? Try running only in the deep red spectrum at the end of the day. The 8w Prototype lets you customize the light to the task at hand.
Patented Fresnel Compound Lens Assembly
Originally, LED's were simply encaptulated in an elementary housing and used raw as growlights (Blackstar V1 etc..). To increase penetration and performance PMMA lenses were added (Chrome series) but the side effect was a more limited coverage area. The ION 8 has a patented system of compound lenses which use the same technology as the Lighthouses of old and employ several lenses into one. Although very expensive to implement, you are now able to have multiple beam angles at once to have both coverage and penetration of the garden canopy.
