Personally I don't think I would. One of the big differences between autos and photos with some of those techniques (lollipopping, fimming, etc,) is that with the auto, you typically don't have the veg time to recover like a photo plant does. In a lot of cases (the sometimes but not always rule applies,) the results from doing some of these things actually can set you back a week or two in growth (and you'll see that with your end result.)
You'll see people have much more luck with some of those advanced techniques when they are growing Super Autos, which tend to take much longer to finish up.
Have you ever considered Low Stress Training your plant at all? With LST, you gradually and slowly train down the branches of your plant that can help create a very nice, even canopy for light to equally distribute across. There are several benefits to LST aside from this, but if trying to eliminate popcorn buds is your concern, that may be a good option for you.
