Hi,

i have three Northern Lights Automatic. Is Low Stress Training good for the Plants?

this is what i mean: low stress training.jpg

I'm not an expert (harvested only one auto, with two plants in bloom and and veg right now). In my first grow I LSTed the tallest cola after the stretch period so I could keep my t5ho lights closer. That bud didn't develop as heavily as the next tallest/dominant cola.

It's hard for me to know if that LST was beneficial. Even though that cola didn't develop well, the stress may have caused the plant to put more energy into the other buds, making them bigger than if I hadn't LSTed. And, the plant probably wouldn't have produced as well if my t5ho lighting had been kept further away (just for that one dominant cola).

It sounds like the general advice is that any stress is discouraged which interferes with the plants development -- unless it's to solve a problem (a tradeoff of one problem for another).

LST isn't only for an even canopy so it can look nice. The other buds getting bigger was the exact result you want and the purpose of LST. You make the plant nothave one tip as the highest point becasue if it does, the tip will release hormones back down the plants stem keeping the other branches from growing as fast.

What. that means is you tie a string to the bottom of your plant and connect it to the side so you have a sterdy base, and then you tie a string between you two highest nodes and pull your plant down to the other side of the pot that you connected your first string.

I find string to be a hassle unless you are a boyscout, sailor, or some kind of bondage prodigy.

Use binder clips and pipecleaners if you aren't an adept knotsmen, you'll be glad you did.

Also tie them up when they are thirsty. They are more malleable and flacid when they want water.
