Hello i have had a little problem with my plant for a few days maybe a week or something. I noticed a couple of the biggest fan leafs at the bottom turn yelowy then eventualy brownish and crispy and shrivled up and died. I picked them off near to death. It's now effected another couple of leafs this time its the set above the last 2 that dies so they are like the oldest leafs on the whole plant. The rest of them look 100% fine to me.

Here are some pics of what im seeing.

I realised now that when i add nutes and calmag to the water that its making it more acidic and i think its going below 6. My tap water was 6.5 when i tested it today. I actualy have a soil probe for testing the PH but its not in my house i need to go pick it up later when i get back from work and then i can poke it in one of the holes near the bottom of the airpot and take a reading without disturbing the roots too much. I'll come back and update when i get the PH reading from that meter.

Here's another couple of pics just to show the overall health of the plant. I noticed in the pics the new growth looked a bit yellowish but tonight when i had it in the bathroom that its looking greener now. I think maybe the flash makes it a tiny bit more yellowy than it actualy is aswell.

The soil is a mix of BioBizz All-Mix (40%) and Plant Magic Soil Supreme (60%) and temps are between 19c and 23c.......im working on getting this higher i need to wait untill next friday before i can afford to buy a speedfan controller. Humidity is pretty much a constant 50%

BTW i will be PH'ing the water from now on i really should have been doing it from the start but tbh im a lazy bugger lol. Lesson learned there.

It's getting worse i just woke up and another couple of the lower fan leafs above the ones in the previous pics are being effected and the new growth at the top is curled down /twisty suddenly but i've been noticing that happening when i wake up after the lights have been off anyway and it sorts itself out but i woke up earlier today before the lights haven't went out and when i looked im seeing the exact same thing its like the very top growth is curled down and dont know if its related. Will report back with a PH reading later when i get back from work........gut instinct is just to flush it then start the nutes again with PH'd water but im a noob so i could be way off thats why im here lol.

Peace!

Phosphorus deficiency. Let's see that soil pH reading so we can see if it's a pH related lockout or just a lack of P.

Just gonna do a bong or 3 and then go collect the PH meter and let you know what it is when i get back. She looks much perkier than she did this morning when i left for work.

I'll edit this post with the info in about an hour! Oh i'l be able to have a look at those 6 stunted plants i started a month ago aswell that are the same age as the one pictured here and see how much they recovered whilst im at it lol. Got a bad feeling about them.........saw them a week ago and looked pretty much the exact same only with more dead bits! Think i'll start a journal on them and explain how they ended up in such a pitifull state so that nobody else ever makes the same mistakes. Be back soon!

I am with muddy and think it is a P defincny, most likely due to improper PH. But that is gut reaction. I have a feeling you are right and your soil pH is off, fix that and you should be good. Happy growing, I am sending get well Karma your way

Hi everyone the soil PH is 4.5 at the bottom of the pot and up at the top its 5.5 which makes sense cause i gave it some H20 this morning just to raise it up a little. Should i Give it a good flush then retest it and feed it with PH balanced water from now on? Can i use baking soda untill i can buy PH up/down this week? Thanks everyone!

Baking Soda as pH UP

I ran out of my pH UP and used 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda dissolved in a tablespoon of warm water. It raised the pH from 5.5 to 6.5 in a gallon of water.

Just use add it slowly a few teaspoons at a time until you get the pH to what you want. One tablespoon is equal to three teaspoons.

I decided to flush just a little right now and see if i can get it back up to a somewhat decent level and then when i have the baking soda give it some PH'd nutes with molasses added aswell and the Magne Cal+. Im thinking if i can flush it out a bit and raise the PH then she should be able to take out what she needs from the soil untill i get the baking soda and PH up/down. I read it's best to use PH up cause the baking soda can leave salts behind in the soil that you need to flush.

Yeah man that is borderline toxic PH level. Also baking soda is a perfectly good way to adjust your pH. If you need to go down you can also use vinegar. But I would defintly do something asap, even if you have to beg, borrow or steal to get what you need because a soil ph of 4.5 is bad news and will exacerbate any trouble or deficeny you have. Out of curiosity what is the pH of the water out of the tap? I hope that you can get some pH adjusting supplement quickly. Also one last thing is you are making sure to check your PH after you add your nutrients, it may seem like a DUH type question but you would be surprised at how many people check the water pH before adding their nutes. Almost every time when you add nutrients your PH will go down quite a bit in most cases. Well I hope that you get what you need and can get your PH issues taken care of, sending lots of good grow Karma your way!

Thanks for the Karma man im sure its gonna have a good effect! I just finished flushing as much as i was comfortable with and got the PH up to 5 at the bottom of the pot and around 5.5 for the top soil. I was inserting the probe into the holes of the airpot a few inches to check what it was at different levels. From halfway up the pot and to the top the soil is 5.5+ but below this level its 5. Im going to get some baking soda tomorrow and then i'll get some PH'd nute fed to her A.S.A.P. My tap water PH is around 6.5 give or take 0.2

Im guessing to raise it up higher i should probobly PH the nutes with baking soda to around 7 - 7.5 the next time i feed her to get the soils PH to come up higher to 6.5?
