No male plants produce pollen sacks (balls) this will open up and release pollen into the air, if this pollen is applied to the pistols of a female plant they will develop seed pods. A female plant can Herm on you which will produce seeds but the seeds are no good because they will only make more Herm plants
I wouldn't go back to that person for advice.

No your not stupid, you did the right thing collect his pollen and killed him.
