Hi guys,

ive extensively used autopots over the years but wonder if anyone ever ran more than one plant per pot and if so with what results?

Ran autoflowers in 1 gallon pots (not autopots) sog style and had a very good result, obviously many plants.

if i used the autopots i have for the same area to fill it fully, there would be far less individual pots hence their size but planting 2-3 plants per pot would sort of even out the numbers.

anyone done this and with what results? yes the whole idea is to have a lot of small plants without training rather than bigger trained ones in case anyone wonders

Yes. This is called companion planting. In nature, no plant grows alone, so it can't hurt anything. It's natural and actually benefits the plants. If you have the 4 gal autopots, 2 autos per pot would work.. Just know you will most likely have to lst them because autopots grow bigger plants than hand watering.

So you tried it?

This is mainly about seeing results from others at this moment.

And no it is the 8.5 liters so that is roughly a tad over 2 gallons but shy of three, again, aim is small plants and if they stunt themselves
in the process so be it - i want to avoid training like the plague and have a lot of training in autopots experience.

there was a guy on here called Hazy, he used to do two plants per pot, his Durban Poison grow in autopots was legendary, made it to the Dutch Passion website.

here is a link to his night queen grow, not autopots, but there are 2 plants per pot.

In my experience, you'll always get one plant fighting to be number 1, possibly to the detriment of the smaller plant, and there are possible hermie issues. Something about the roots being in such close proximity, causes hormonal issues, but it can be done, and has been done many times

It can be done. If you have a dollar store around you, look for one of the plastic bowls. The long narrow one. Mines came with blue top. Cut the lid and use as a divider.

Try to find one that's the size of your pot. Fill your pot then slide the divider in position, then wet soil and press soil so it stays in place. Here's one as an example but no soil and empty 2.5 gallon pot.

I always have multiple plants in the same hydro reservoir, and they do fine.
But they are large reservoirs that supply 4-7 gallons per plant.
I'm trying the same thing now with 2 plants in the same 5 gallon reservoir.

I did two plants per SIP last summer, but they were not autopots. The SIPs were large, 100+ liters as I recall, and all plants did just fine.

If I put two plants in a smaller container, I would use the divider idea that Big Al suggests. I would probably do the same even in a large SIP, autopots or not. A divider seems unlikely to hurt, and may prevent the main bulk of the two root masses from any sort of competitive mischief. If you give it a try, I will be very interested to see how you make out.
