I have never seen that before but I see side shoots starting so just leave her go and like Rudra says you might get two colas.

...ride her out for another week or so to see if the side branches catch up,... usually it's a gamble with muties like this, on how well they perform,....

That's the intention now I think.
The side branches are starting to move along nicely, so it may turn out fine.
