Been on prescription morphine for 15+ years and decided to wean myself off of it as it really wasn't working that well anymore and figured I would try something new after doing a TON of research - so, grew me some shrooms and ended up with around 55 grams for my 1st grow. Since it is strictly for me, that should last me a long time, tho I do enjoy growing them so am going to continue growing different varieties.
Then of course I needed some cannabis. I did not even know about autoflowers until around April of this year as it has been a loooonnnngggg time since I have messed around with it, but it sure seemed like the easiest route to go down, plus it allowed me to try different types to see which one will work better for me....
I bought around 15 seeds but thought I would just start with a couple to see how it went. I planted these in the pots they are in now and the white widow broke ground on May 10 with the rhino rider coming up may 12th.
The soil - so much info out there. I ended up using a homemade "subcool super soil" and filled the conatiners up a little over 1/3 with that and then I just used a store bought potting soil to fill it the rest of the way up. I forget the brand off the top of my head, but it took me a long time to find it as I didn't want anything with poultry crap etc in it. The basic ingredients, off the top of my head were just basically "forest stuff" with nothing else added. I am thinking I found it at kmart, tho their website only shows miracle gro and hyponex and it wasn't either of those (poultry - I just didn;t want that for some reason).
I did also buy a small bag of Miracle grow Violet potting soil and mixed it in the top part - I just read the ingredients and liked it so thought I would throw it in there.
I also got a small bag of seed starter soil, put a very small bit in the center and that is where I started the seeds.
I started out growing these in my garage under a cfl, one for each container. Originally I had planned on making a growing chamber using cfls since I would only be doing a couple plants at a time at a time. I started moving them outside during the day, thinking a cfl couldn't compete with the real thing and I ended up being a bit surprised as I did not think they would get as big as they did, I was thinking these were going to be like 12-18" tall tops. As they continued to grow, I decided to just go ahead and leave them outside all of the time - another good thing about autos I guess, while 20 hours or so of light is good, they are going to do what they are going to do no matter it is 12 hours or 20 hours.
Since I have the supersoil in the pot, I have not added anything to them, I only water them when needed.
I originally had them near my pool area, but as they grew it got to where it was pretty obvious what they were, so since i have very yound grandkids and their parents and friends coming and going, I moved them to the back of my yard by my woods, out of sight for the most part.
Normally the tall grass in the pics is mowed, but i let it grow so it would help hide them and now u can't see them unless u physically go back there.
I do also have a Samsarra Punky Lion (feminised) growing back there. For that I just dug a huge hole in the ground and used the super soil and potting mix combo I used for the autos. - It is also doing great. That I did transplant from a pot.....
Anyway - I guess it is time I get me a loupe or scope. I tried taking some pictures of them but I can't get close enough to know when they will be ready. Supposedly they shouldn't be ready until around July 9 for the white widow and July 19 for the rhino rider, but I can't see them making it that long, I am guessing they will be ready to harvest before then, but it is my 1st time so who knows. I tried getting a closeup pic but my lens just isn't good enough and I didn't have my tripod, so it is blurry.
But I am thinking they seem to be doing fine, hopefully they will continue to do so.
Now just get me a Solo vaporizer and I will hopefully be good to go and can kiss that morphine goodbye forever - good riddance hopefully
Sorry if pics are too big

pyramid white widow (not as full as the other, I should have pinched it or something. I just didn't realize it would get this tall)

Good to hear your going with the nature approach to pain meds! Those ladies look wonderful, hope they do the trick for ya! Grow karma sent your way!

:five:lookin good

they look great budd :) keep it upp

great job, glad to hear your coming back to this for meds...they are looking good, i was thinking about starting some Punky Lion myself next month, you should start a journal on here :smokebuds:

as for the medicinal part....so far i am just using the shrooms. Was hoping to wait until my next dr appt just in case he wants to take a urine test (in case this does not work out) and so far I am feeling better then I have felt in a long time. I started weaning myself off the morphine the 6th of this month - today i only took 1/4th of my dose, tho I did use shrooms last night.
It is amazing how they keep this from us for medicinal purposes.....actually it is a crime.

update

I just thought I would give an update on the quality of the bud I got.
As it turns out, I have not actually smoked any myself. As mentioned previously I go to a pain clinic and the new policy is to urine test everyone monthly, and as we all know, despite research showing the benefits of cannabis and morphine, how it reduces the amount of morphine needed, if they detect cannabis you are booted out of the clinic. I won't go into my thoughts on this, but it does mean I haven't yet been able to really sample this myself.

After quite a bit of research on the matter, I decided to store/cure it in qt mason jars with a Boveda humidity pack in each jar. I had read quite a bit about cannabis aging like fine wine so thought I would do it this way and when I do get to start smoking it (I have a plan), I will hopefully be able to always have some nicely cured buds.

My "problem" was I was just soooo damned curious about the quality of the weed I was curing. Even if I did smoke it (I may have had a hit or 2), I wouldn't know if the quality was just from me not having smoked any in so long and I really don;t know anyone who partakes in the sweet weed.

I did have my brother tho, who lives in a different state. Last month I went up to visit so took some along with me. One thing I did know for sure, when I opened the jars, the aroma was heavenly - no more chlorophyll smell, just the sweet essence of White Widow and Punky Lion (the punky lion smell is awesome, it should be made into a perfume, incense or something. I don't like opening the jars but when I do, I can just smell it for a good 5 minutes)

Anyway, i gave my brother a sample of each and he gave me a great report. I harvested it for more of a head high than a body high (more clear than amber trichs) and he said that was exactly how it was.
The down side is he said it was not as effective as a pain killer as some other he smokes, but as far as high, he said mine was better. He told me the white widow was primo stuff and the punky lion was really good, maybe like 80% of what the widow was.

So, a good report but I wasn't really sure how much I could trust my brother's judgement as we do have a strange history.

Last week I stumbled into a 26 year old that smokes quite a bit of weed and seemed well versed in the matter, so I gathered up some more samples and had them try it out. I wanted a fair judgement between the 2 so they smoked the white widow one day and the punky lion the next and they pretty much told me what my brother told me and then begged me to 1st give them some and then to sell them some (I don't sell, so I did give them a 1/8oz of each and we agreed they would be my future tester)
Now I can only go by what they said , but I was told that they paid $100 for a 1/4 oz of primo buds and was told the white widow was better than what they were buying and the punky lion was about the same as they were buying , but the punky lion aroma also had him captivated.

So, point of my verbosity is I do believe i can now say my first grow was very successful though I do plan to make alterations in the harvest time.

While I enjoy a head high myself more than a sit on the couch and veg body high, it seems for pain relief I need to harvest it for more of a body high. For my next grow I am going to wait longer and start experimenting on the % of amber trichs over the clear. The goal is to reach a happy medium where I wouldn't turn into a coach potato, but still get adequate pain relief - tho I will still grow some for the pure head high for enjoyment purposes.

It was just bugging me and seemed so strange that I had these jars of buds but had no idea if they were actually any good. I hated to start growing more because if it wasn't any good, it would just be a waste of time, but now I know that i can go full steam ahead and am planning out my winter grow area and will be starting a couple new plants soon.
Will also be interesting because the last 2 ended up being grown outdoors. i had the lights and everything, but thought it kind of silly since it was summer, so now I will also be able to see the difference between an indoor grow and an outdoor one. I am sure it will be smaller, but interested to see how the potency goes.

I will also be using the same "super soil".
It could not have been easier as I never added a thing after I planted it except water. I did not know how it was going to work with autoflowers but at least for these 2, I don't believe it could have been any better.

Pretty happy for my 1st grow - hope it doesn't turn out to be blind luck tho :)

Good luck on your 1st grow.. And new approach to. Your health..I want to suggest a herb called. Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) that could help you get off your scriptoids..through the net some say it a legal opi but it's not a opi just works on the same areas can help with getting off your meds and also help with the pain, sleep, energy, and mood. If you need to know some vendors or whatnot feel free to hit me up. Been a friend with this plant for some years..:smokeit:
