New Grower Need help/opinions on new Mi5 grow

Ok I'm hoping you guys will offer your help and opinions for a grow I'm planning. I have a 3x3 homemade grow tent, with a homemade light fixture featuring 12 23w cfls for a total of 276 watts. I also have 10 Fem Mi5 seeds.

My question is should I go with 9 plants in 1 gal pots or 4 plants in 3.5 gal pots? My only concern is yeild. Which do you guys think will get me the best yeild? I know cfls don't penetrate well so I'm thinking 9 smaller plants might be best. However, Im looking forward to you opinions.

I just saw your question and thought i'd chime in for you.

I would go for 4 nice plants in those 3.5 gal pots mate! It'll be easier to get light intensity to 4 rather than 9, the root systems will be able to become more developed (your tap root will sink deeper), you'll have less pots to water, and less frequently and you'll save about £50 in seeds ^_^

So thats 3 lights per plant and if you're anything like the rest of us - you'll probably end up having 6 per plant by the time you've finished lol I started with a big 250w cfl and then I added another 125 ... then i added another 125 ^_^ It's to easy to get power hungry when you see them taking off!

I think 4 big ones in that space will yield the same or better than 9 small ones. (with the right light placement)

It's hard to say what kind of yield you will get. It depends on so many variables that its just a guess and not going to be accurate.My suggestion is to go with four 3.5 gal pots because I think the MI5 strain gets pretty large and this will give them plenty of room for better light penetration and air flow.:karma Cloud:
