looking tasty bud ^^

heres a link about harvesting autos if you havent stumbled over it yet :High 5:

When to harvest autos? Your leaves will tell you.

about the drying/curing... there are different ways to go around that aswell..

i did the paperbag dry method.

put them in a paper bag wich i folded and teiped. let it dry in that for about a week.. from ther and in jars.. burped jars everytime RH hit 70 % :2cents:

well, day 77 felt like the day to do it... harvested her tonight, after a 48-hour nap in complete darkness but steady airflow. Buds appeared to plump up but it may just have been psychological since I went two days without seeing her for the first time in a month. Either way, Plant actually looked better than before I turned the lights out, but I think I flushed correctly, which if I am correct about this, would most likely cause the plant to look healthier since it basically gets rid of what is just being built up in the soil so it can breathe easier, correct me if I am wrong please, as this is my first time, and most of my theories have come from reading all of your posts on AFN as well as other grower forums and articles, etc.. The "dark" period, i know is controversial, but the reason I chose to do it was an explanation of what happens "at night" to the plants sugars; they apparently go back into storage in the root system so that the next day as the sun rises, so do sugar levels in the leaves. With the dark period, if the sugars leave the bud sites and leaves, then theoretically, the buds should actually cure quicker (not DRY quicker) and create a smoother smoke as opposed to letting it have light up until it's chopped which can create harshness and/or a longer cure time. Again, if I am wrong please feel free to correct me.

I cut the stems off and trimmed each bud, and layered the bottom of a brown paper bag with two holes cut near the top and a fan blowing air off of a wall and right back at the bag as to create indirect airflow. Last time I hung dry on a clothes hanger with a fan blowing out of the little cubby i used to dry and the buds were over dried and have been in a jar almost a month now with a boveda pack and still smell like hay, but greener, to be honest, I don't think I flushed that one very well, the harvest was mostly seeds as it was pollinated by a hermie. So, technically, this is my first sensi grow and harvest. not a lot of yield wet, so even less dry, but I am just learning and I used cfl's without really even having a "grow space" that was conducive to growing anything. I will be back once dry enough for a quick taste test. If anyone has any advice as to how I am proceeding and weather I am doing something foolish, please feel free to reply to this post. Thank you all again for the help. I will be back soon with a dry yield/smoke report for Berry Ryder. peace.

Nice detailed explanation on your process of doing things, with regards to sugars being stored in the roots and then transported up the plant at each sunrise (in theory) imo isnt quite right, they are produced during photosynthesis and move down to the roots when an excess is produced, and the dark period I think is by inducing her into a dark period is that it tricks the plant by stressing her out. It makes her think that there's not enough light to sustain her life, and in a last ditch effort to survive, and replicate (by creating seeds), she puts the rest of her growing energy into plumping up the buds. Increasing bud size, in theory, makes her a bigger target to capture pollen, and increase her odds of passing along her legacy....

:slap: Great job of getting to harvest bro :smokeit:

Yeah, That makes sense, I am certainly not a botanist. But, I am Really happy with my first successful grow. If anyone hasn't tried Berry Ryder, I highly suggest it. Great easy grow and from what I hear, more advanced growers with better set ups have yielded 3+ ounces per plant. I will be happy if I get a half ounce, but as I said, first successful grow, drying nicely and sampled some this evening as most of the little popcorn buds are already dry, really nice...:smoke:

My total final Dry harvest weight was 13 grams, nice dense buds, all done with 5 CFL's. Thank you for all of the collective help, I learned a lot, when I needed it the most. Not sure what's next, going on my honeymoon to Costa Rica for thanksgiving, so nothing right now, possibly white widow when I get back, but I will definitely be getting more Auto seeds, possibly Auto Jack, I would really like to try that, I love Jack Herer, but I will post when I get my next auto grow going, I really think they are great for beginners. Thanks again to everyone, keep growing, "...they got the guns, but we got the numbers..." Peace.
