Hi all

I am new to this forum and I am really looking for some general advice on autoflowering seeds before I start! Have been pretty successful with previous (indoor) grows using feminised seeds and a mixture of LED and 600w Halides and was just trying to find out if there is anything special that needs to be done with AF seeds that I am not already doing ie: light cycles, nutrients, soil etc?

Any input/advice much appreciated :finger:

Welcome to afn suburban,

Things you should know before growing autos:
- you can not regulate flowering time and height as you do with photosensitive varieties and a 12/12 cycle. so space can be an issue in small grow spaces and depending on the strain even in bigger spaces (auto-sativas etc).
- light cycles for autos are between 24/0 and 12/12 but most people go for 20/4 or 19/5
- autos have the same varying basic needs as any other cannabis strain (good soil, lots of light, adequate temperature range and humidity)

You should be good to go IMO. Look around a little in the Strain review section. I am sure you will find an interesting Strain for your first Auto-Grow.

Thanks Testor, Will have a look there first as you suggest .....................probably be posting again with more questions later though!

Welcome to afn suburban :smokebuds: like testor said most autos don't like a 12/12 cycle and prefer 20/4 or 18/6 some people say 24/0 but that will limit the stretching of your plants. When using nutes just make sure to start off light and they usually don't need to be fed for the first few weeks but that also depends on your soil. When using chem nutes most people say to not go over 1/2 strength but I like to do 3/4 strength. Organic nutes you should be able to use full strength but work your way up probably starting at 1/4 or even 1/8 strength. As far as soil I would recommend promix bx as you don't really need to add anything except maybe perlite. Hope this was kinda helpful. Good luck with future grows :D

Hey suburb a BIG HIGH welcome to AFN, thanks for joining our family of Breeders and Growers of Auto-flowering Cannabis. There is a New Growers Forum thread above with all the help you need for a successful grow. Remember there is a wealth of knowledge in the stickies at the top of the pages as well as the Reference Links threads. The Site Terms Of Use is posted in the above sticky . Now join in and enjoy your new family of Growers and Friends.

TOKE OUT :smokebuds:

Hey there and welcome to the Auto Network. We're glad to have you here and to help you as well.

Most folks use 20/4 or 18/6 for Autos. Sometimes for the entire grow or maybe use 24/0 for the first few weeks.
Auto-Canna tends to be a bit more sensitive on the nutrients than Photo strains. As said already, you'll wanna start light after the first two weeks(if in a good seedling starter mix like Promix or Jiffy)
It's best to plant your germinated bean in their final home as they prefer not to be transplanted. Due to their shorter life-cycle, you definitely don't want to stunt them.

Take a look at the links down in my signature and good luck! :smokebuds:

Hey Squid;
Can you give me some basic information on what Autoflowering is? I get it that it has to do with indoor grows, but I don't have a clue as to what the benefits are and what the basic things are that you do to begin autoflowering... I'm lame I know... Information is power so I want to be real powerful here.....If there is a certain thread that explains it to the numbnutz grower like me I would appreciate a push in that direction... I have a crop of White Widow coming up that is doing well but I don't know if autoflowering will help me or not, hoping to get some guidance, Thanks
RR
