Planted two seeds after germinating in a paper towel. They germinated beautifully in two days. Popped them right into a 3 gallon pot with an even mix of Coco Loco and Ocean Forest and placed a cup over them. I water lightly once a day, unless the soil is extremely dry then twice.

It’s been 5 days and no signs of sprouting.

I noticed one of the pots has little silver insects, 80% sure they’re springtails, I mixed some Coco Loco from a year ago in this one and suspect that’s where they came from because the other pot doesn’t have any and I used all new fresh soil.

Neither of them have sprouted. Should I be worried, or am I just being impatient. I was sure they would’ve sprouted at least a little by now.

3x2 tent Light intensity 35% 18” from top of pot Temp 70-81 RH 65-80 18/6

They should be up by now, unless you planted them wicked deep. Personally, I would start moving some soil to look for some movement (very carefully)…. You obviously want to take care of the pests, too.

If this was my grow, I would be sowing seeds into a void in the final pot, filled with an inert medium….the combination of soils you’re using may be too hot for auto seedlings… by giving them an inert medium to start life in, they will be protected from the hot soil, until they’re ready…

Do you have any recommendations as to what to use to get rid of pests?

A couple of resources to help you out. Neem Oil and diatomaceous earth seem to be the most common solution, and of course beneficial pests if you can source them.

Best of luck to you.
*I did use Neem cake to mitigate pest problems upfront in my recent soil grow. Won't help now, but something to consider...

If you want to stay with the fox farm line up they do make a seed starter mix that's inert like frank said. Otherwise what I do is 100% Fox Farm happy frog. Im not a fan of mixing coco in because once you add a decent amount of coco to soil, your substrate needs to be treated like coco, so that means daily fertigation, and every watering if you need to more than once a day. Ocean forest is a transplanting mix meant for established plants. It's super hot, mainly made for plants about a month old at least. Photo seedlings CAN tolerate it but even they get burned by Ocean forest, and mixing in coco doesnt change how hot the soil is just how long it will feed for.

Unlike Ocean forest, happy frog has humic acid, and it had microbes already amended into the soil so its a good starter for seedlings, not too hot either. So you get the benefit of humic acid and myco right away for root building and theres enough food in happy frog to feed almost 40 days, like I said though if you mix in coco at a 50/50 ratio it will probably only feed 2-3 weeks
