There are a lot of light distance calculations and all of them suggest pretty much the same thing. What i do not understand is almost all of the commercial indoor garden photos ive seen on the web have fixtures at least 1 meter away from plants. Some of them even further. just google and proof is there. Even though they are using 1Ks, its too far for any scale. Can somebody tell me whats going on?

I've always thought a meter was the optimum distance for Hps and MH lights.

I have been wondering the same thing the last few months. and many times the bulbs are bare just hanging there.t

commercial growers don't have time to be messing with raising/lowering lights, so they set them around 3ft/1M. Seedlings and plants in veg don't need the intensity, and once stretch starts, the plants grow into the lights. You and I are going for quantity of bud, they are going for volume of plants.
