Mephisto Genetics Nutrient uptake vs water uptake and relative humidity

You are trying to be too precise bro. I am all for having a dialed In environment, but you don't need to over think things. 60+ Humidity is good for veg. But not Ideal for Flower. Honestly, I would rather have lower Humidity and feed more often my whole grow. Good luck

Well Slow you're one to experiment and try things out and compare results so I would have thought you'd say darn right try and play with RH. I'm sure once I'm done playing i'll agree with you that 60 is good for veg and 50 or lower for bloom. In the meantime, I'm going to experiment.

I do love to experiment. However, I have multiple gardens at multiple locations, so they are not identical RH wise and I live in a State where RH Changes often. The only time I mess with RH is if it's too high. My one house needs a Dehumidifier in spring, or on raining days. I would have to try very hard to keep a totally stable RH year-round. That being said, I don't think it would be a difference unless you were crazy high or crazy low. Typically my RH at my house is roughly 45-55%. Winter decreases it a little at times. As stated before, I don't mind if it drops. But worry if it rises. Good luck

Coco Tree's - Growing in Coco Coir - International Cannagraphic ...https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=300255

Learned a lot reading this. The first 40 pages have quite a bit of info. Get out a note pad and right down some of the things that would apply to your growing style. Its not for everyone obviously. I've stopped exhausting out of my house now, helping on winter heating costs is a bonus too. He uses the VPD chart and i believe he runs 84 temp and 75 rh for the whole grow, lights on and off this changes according to the VPD chart. Its not autos but the info is still outstanding. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ROOTS LIKE THIS GUY HAS, READ IT JUST FOR THAT ALONE!

For my current grow i switched to pure coco in 3 gallon fabric pots sitting on top of homemade waterproof drain tables. No need to run a humidifier in winter anymore. One 16 inch wall mount that helps pull in air to the tent and an eight inch fan set on low to barely move air out the halve open bottom vent. wish i had co2 to pump in. Temps and rh sit at 72-73 and 70/62.

my temps are on the low side because i run cobs but the plants dont seem to mind that.

MC/SC/BE and BioAg ful power...Watering daily until runoff.

Hope that link helps.

I would not take the risk of running above 65% humidity in Flower. 84 F and 75% humidity in Flower is a recipe for mold or Bud Rot IMO.

@Milo77

Interesting read. He likes to use small containers of coco and get the plants root bound, then he waters the heck out of them. His root pictures were quite amazing.

He's a VPD believer too following it right to the end. I won't be doing that for sure. I'll turn off my humidifier or remove it from the tent in flower. And if I have to I'll put a dehumidifier in the tent.

I changed my exhaust to recycle back in to the garage the tent is in. I used to exhaust out the roof. But my electrical bills for heating in the winter are really high so I"m trying to reuse the heat from the tent. But I'm also pulling humidity in to the garage along with the heat and that is bad. I like recycling the heat part so I ordered a Frigidaire dehumidifier that I will run in the garage to solve the problem of high RH in the garage from the exhaust. Next summer I'll probably switch back to exhausting out the roof.

I'm still working my way thru that thread. Thanks for the link.

I thought the same thing until I read about his techniques and saw his results.
Not worth the risk. 1 person might get by with certain strains, but you will have some strains that will mold/bud rot easier than others. Not worth trying to try to replicate his numbers, unless you want to roll the dice. Been doing this a very long time, that is a recipe for diaster.

I think @slowandeasy nailed it. For the average home grower not blowing out a shit load of money on environmental controls and a perfectly sterile environment, following VPD into late flower simply isn’t worth the risk.

As far as water and nutrient uptake changes due to environment, I simply dilute feed with extra clean RO during times of high temps or low RH. unscientific but it works.

Good topic @lunarman :d5:

No problem man, glad to hear you are reading it!

I’ll tell u guys my secret I don’t follow any chart don’t even have a single gauge or meter in my tent. Here it is: I sing daily to my plants seems to keep them happy and the environment in perfect parameters. Seems I blow enough hot air to keep humidity perfect. Lmao sorry just had to
