I'm on day 36 of my grow, day 10 since I noticed pistils and I am seeing some orange hairs. Is it normal to see hairs so early in flowering? Is it a good thing or bad thing and will that mean an early harvest at the expense of yield?

When touched or enough dust will turn them orange. But pics look to be a ruderalis dominate strain. Can I see a whole plant pic?

What makes you think ruderalis dominant? Assuming it is, does that mean it will be weaker potency? So touching the buds will make them turn orange early?

Yes touching is a no no. Turns hairs orange and trichomes will turn amber and fall off.

Nothing wrong with ruderalis, usually cures, finishes faster. Usually just as potent.

Thank you for the advice. I wasn't aware that touching was bad. Though I don't intentionally touch them I may have touched them while doing lst so that's a possible explanation. That's great news about the potency. Wipeout express is listed as an 8 week harvest, though I know to take that with a grain of salt. I just hope either way I get a decent yeild. I'd be very happy with 2 oz per plant considering it's my first grow.

I'll try to move them around some so not to touch the wall while still sitting under the light in a good position.

It happens, just don't go squeezing to check density lol. My buddy tried to do that to me all the time. I hated it.

Sometimes strains will do as they please. I can tell you my current LSD-25 started showing orange hairs within days of going into flower, and I thought she was going to be a early finisher with low yield, as she had been a problem grow since she was 2 days old. She wound up exploding and is full off flower and they are thickening rather nicely. So really it is hard to say what happens. I am a strong believer in giving the plant a great grow environment and conditions that allow them to reach their genetic potential, and if you do this, they will do their thing, albeit sometimes their thing is a small scrawny crappy yielder. Every grow I have done over the decades always is a journey with twists and turns... and normally proves to be very rewarding, even in the failures.
