I've been wondering lately what you guys use most consistently for auto's as I take advice from this site more than anything..what kind of pot produces the best results? So I'm in the hydro store shopping for pots and I'm lost.....what do you guys use smart pots, grow bags, DIY buckets, or regular plastic pots? Right now I'm using a mix of 3 and 5 gallon pots...I love 3 gallon because I can fit more in my grow room but 5 gallons seems a bit more forgiving when it comes to nutes, watering...I'm leaning toward switch to smart pots..any advice welcomed!

Hey man, well I prefer smart potts to anything else, even air pots since IMHO airpots are prolly better. yet if an infestation occurs for whatever reason i want to be able to head it off well in advance. They air prune the root system and at 5gallon size there is more than ample room to do what it needs to do as natural as I can make it.Im not a Hydro type of guy myself,I prefer a nice soil and really nice smart pot and/or dirt bag brand at the moment. But 3 gallon work also.its just really a size game and adjust accordingly with nutes n so forth IMHO.But for pots I personally feel they will rock indoors and/or outdoors.

Airpots 6ltrs and above. I personally use 6ltrs and hit 2oz a plant easy, hit nearly 3 with dinafems white widow! I find the bigger the pot the longer it takes to finish :smokebuds:

I also would say 6.5l pots...I'm using 9litre not and can't see much difference I fact I'd say none of the plants in my grow will beat the dinafem critical jack I grew in a 6.5litre pot that gave me just over 3oz :) sure more roots more zoots but IMO autos don't get long enough to veg. I'm going back to 6.5litre pots.

Really the longer it takes eh?!Hmmm well the only small indoor grow I did were in 3 gallon or so sized pots and they did take a little longer but outdoors I know as well will make it take longer too.But its all good. Not sure Ive thought of that before yet makes perfect sense due that you could root bind it and to a dgree push it to finish somewhat faster.Cool!!

I love my 3 gallon tall tree pot. It's the one in the middle. They're no bigger around than any other pots, but I feel the height gives the tap root unlimited space in those critical veg weeks.

depends on the auto, a small auto like HBD, AA, or DR...i would prefer a 3gal sm/pot...something like onxy, Mi5, or jet47 that are a larger auto in a 5gal sm/pot...now if your thinking super auto i use a 10 gal for chaze and #1 super auto...i always have a root ball that has no voids w/in it, so i know every bit of the soil was used...

See we need to develop a new pot.Smart pot or something a kin to it maybe.Tall but not too wide so the roots bug.Cause prime example,Blueberry strains as a rule mind you are prone to root restriction issues at times. As far as other strains go I dunno. That awesome.Roots,Strains,size.makes one think though, what IS the perfect middle ground for all strains according to pot size and depth.Ive tossed around 20 diff. theories in my head and.

Is a guide online by someone but surely we could get our own data. Get a record of people's pot size, light, and how many plants under that light and the yield. It'll be bloody long though lol. For me I don't see a benefit in using pots larger than 6.5 with autos. Look at my first grow in my sig of the cream caramels then click on my latest both have dinafems auto critical jack and although my 9litre pots have given bigger plants it doesn't mean bigger yield.

We should develop something dude. Maybe fabric pots with different mesh options or air pots with variable hole sizes. I'm not making a joke. I love air pots and smart pots but in the summer I have to switch back to good oll square pots. The others just dry out way to fast on me with the summer heat.
