I'm thinking of purchasing this to get me going.. this is a pretty awesome answer for those interested in trying TLO and arent ready to mix/cook, etc.
testerx, good sir - what, if anything would I amend to this? I'm thinking of getting the myco and tricho packs from kelp4less or AN Pirhanna (supposed to be top of the line).. any tips / thoughts?
I figured with all of the help you've given me, I should have it on the forums - you've really helped me believe this will be a worthwhile switch.
Recipe: (this makes a little over 30 gallons when combined with our nutrient pack)
15 gallons spaghnum peat moss (I recommend Alaska or Premier brands)
7.5 gallons aeration amendment (pumice, perlite, rice hulls, calcined diatomaceous earth, etc...)
7.5 gallons high quality compost or earthworm castings (very important for proper nutrient cycling). We do sell our fungal compost in bulk for this mix, though it will raise shipping costs.
Just add the nutrient pack and water to the soil mix, let it sit for a few days and it's ready to use!
Advantages of our nutrient and mineral mix:
1. Save on shipping by sourcing the bulkier ingredients locally.
2. Thoroughly tested on multiple plants/vegetables all the way through until harvest.
3. No risk of burning your plant, just plant and go!
4. No need for further nutrients or fertilizer, saving you tons of money! (though please contact us if you would like an advanced schedule to fully maximize plant growth with some minimal plant specific inputs)
5. 100% natural and organic ingredients, no synthetic chemicals.
6. Can be re-used over and over again, with only small amendments between cycles.
7. Can be used indoors or outdoors, though keep in mind that this soil is alive and there will be some insects and other small organisms in the soil. This is necessary to maintain a healthy soil food web and achieve proper nutrient cycling. You don't want a sterile soil for organic gardening/growing!
