Hi Folks!

Just a small, personal rant here ... which some may find mildly interesting.
it has become a small obsession of mine, so I thought I'd share it.
:pighug:

It's the subtle but majorly important distinction between the Staff of Hermes and the Rod of Asclepius.

Please ... don't nod off from boredom or run away just yet - let me explain.

One of these is the Staff of Hermes.

In Roman iconography, it was often depicted being carried in the left hand of Mercury, the messenger of the gods, guide of the dead and protector of merchants, shepherds, gamblers, liars, and thieves.

One of these is the Rod of Asclepius.

MASSIVE difference.
KEY difference.

... and yet often confused, and often one is used for the other.

Incidentally, Asclepius was originally invoked in the Hippocratic Oath;

Wikipedia said:
The original Hippocratic Oath began with the invocation "I swear by Apollo the Physician and by Asclepius and by Hygieia and Panacea and by all the gods ..."

That Big Pharma often uses the incorrect symbol for medicine, and by so doing, flaunts its focus on profit, money, commerce, lies and deception ... is somewhat ironic.

Know the difference.
Know the distinction.
Please don't unwittingly worship commerce, instead of promoting health.

OK ... obsessive rant over.

:thanks:
