Hello everyone,

On almost all autos I've tried they all seem to start developing purple calyxes when they are getting close to mature and harvest time. I've had this happen with more different strains than not and it doesn't seem to matter the temperatures or lighting schedule. When they are done and mature the calyxes swell and turn a purple color.

Almost all strains seems to have similar smell and taste as well. Except for the huge differences in indica phenos and sativa phenos.

Has anyone else noticed this or felt the same about most smelling and tasting the same?

I even have a buddy that grows autos and his have in the same ballpark smell and taste.

Thanks guys,
peace out:grin:

Hello Imhere Welcome to AfN :Sharing One:I can say from my experience that's never happen to me i do get the purple calyxes but only at the top don't know y ive also heard people say that happen using certain nutes wish i had more input for you ,:dunno:stop over to intro section and and say hello to the other members when you can put a link to this thread here see if you can get more feed back on this ....Glad you joined us my friend enjoy the site!!!!

I do know lower temps play a big part, but never heard of them all smelling and tasting the same, or always turning purple. I personally dont mind a little purp on my smoke.

I've been blessed with very different aroma and taste with all the strain we've grown. I can crack a jar and tell what gal it came from.:smokeit:
Nice intro, imhere, now lets get it rockin' with a grow journal! How you treat them in the last days, and during the cure, can have a big effect on taste.
No idea about the purple calyxes, though, never had that happen to me.

Sorry, but I'm not comfortable posting pictures. Rather safe than sorry.

My friend uses a hydroponic set up and Advanced Nutrients and I keep it simple with FFOF and basic flowering nutes when they start to need a little more juice, but with the life cycle and nutrients in a 3gal pot of OF they seem to do fantastic compared to other methods.

The temperature I don't think has ever reached below 70 and I have tried: Diesel Ryder, Cheese, Critical Cheese, Northern Lights Blue, Narcotic Kush, and 60 Day Wonder.

Favorite was the regular Cheese auto followed by 60 and then the Diesel Ryder. The Critical Cheese wasn't bad at all, just a low yielder. And the Nothern Lights and Narcotic Kush were pretty much garbage:no:

I believe all but the Diesel Ryder showed blue-purple tipped and colored calyxes that started at the top and the longer it went the more the color spread to the side branch calyxes. I'm not complaining though, definitely gives it a good looking appeal. Not complaining about the taste or smell either. The smell is usually a strong just skunky smell and a gas/diesel/chem strong taste (in a good way!)
