New Grower Question about FIMMING

Is it true that auto flower plants should not be fimmed because they do not live long enough to recover from the fimming and grow enough?
I read that you should only try to FIM photoperiod plants.
Can anyone please advise whether they have fimmed auto flower plants with good results?

As a general rule of thumb, yes auto's should not be fimmed; LST and to a limited degree de-foliation.

Although I bet a few awesome AFN'ers make it work.

Thanks. I am going to plant two autos and one photo and fim the photo and let it veg during the life of the autos and recover from the fim then harvest the autos and change the light in the grow tent to flower the fimmed photo plant. I want to use a feminized northern light to fim. Do you think that the plant will get too big if I follow that plan? I don't have a very big grow space.

With fimming in general, do you wait until the plant reveals its sex or just fim when it has the right amount of growth? It seems a waste to fim a plant and then have it be a male. That's why I'm using feminized seeds, to increase my chances of growing a female

may be best to stagger the germination, start the Photo at about week 5/6.

That's what I was afraid of.
But if I wait 5 weeks to plant, will there be enough time to fim the plant and let it recover for flowering by the time that the two autos are finished? The 2 autos have a seed to harvest time of 65-70 days.

Yes, six weeks Veg should be fine - although it does depend on how many times you FIMM If it is a 10 week auto then yes, start at week 4. Plus if you want it to go in Veg longer you can, where as starting it too early means you cant switch to 12/12 - at least thats how I would think about it.

That's what I think too.
I want to have a short fimmed plant ready to put into 12/12 as soon as the auto flowers are done.
