I'm a new grower (second grow, first autoflower). I'm using ProMix and GH Flora Series (drain to waste) which gives me a lot of control over timing and quantity of nutrients. As a newbie that's been good. But, mixing nutrients every 2 days gets old.

My question: After the initial work preparing a soil, what do you typically do on a daily basis? Just water every 2-4 days? Or, are there other things you have to do?

What I'm curious about is whether it's possible to grow MJ as simply as a houseplant. I know organic growers can get into teas and things. Is that necessary? Or, is it possible to just prepare a soil and do little more than water for the next 2 months? What about flowering and increased PK, calmag? How is that handled when growing with an organically-fed soil?

Sorry if those are dumb questions. It's just that, now that I've learned to grow I want to understand other ways. (I understand organic produces better taste, is healthier, better for the environment, etc. That's good stuff. But, right now I'm just trying to understand how labor intensive it is.).

Thanks.

With Organics U want to feed the Soil ...
Not the Roots
So u fix them up a compost tea.Or Build A Super soil and u Can get Away with Water only and Some cal/Mag Via Molasses.
With. Promix U will need to feed at Intervals.of courseits a.lwnd soil amd Says to.Start Nutes at 7 days ..It alsolike to saty a bit Moist fromwhat other growers have Mentioned.
Its a great mix but some have a Few Problems with it as well ..

I Will grow Soon in Promix And use Alaska Fish and Seaweed And There Morbloom
And use Growmore on some.Other plants

It is possible to complete a grow with nothing but watering. You have to add all your amendments to the soil, you have to compost it a bit, and you have to build your soil in layers. Google "Subcool's Super Soil" and you can get some guidance on how to do it, and which soils bring out what flavors. other stuff too. Or you can find that artilcle here:

I grow in soil and although its not true organics it is easy. I use bottled fertilizer so its not true organic cuz they add acid to the bottles to keep them from going sour, Its not much work at all though. I don't have to feed for first 2 to 3 weeks Depending how large of a pot I transplant in too and only once a week when I do feed or every other watering what ever is longer.

Thanks for the replies. I'll read the references and try an organic grow soon.

Quick question: AK fish was mentioned a couple times. Does that create any indoor odor problems as 2-3 months worth accumulate in soil? I have 7-10 photosensitives in a sealed tent with carbon filter. That number of plants creates more weed odor than I can live with. But, my one autoflower is in an unsealed tent. I can live with that weed odor. If I'd used fish the past 2 month, would I be smelling something entirely different? :) Is a carbon filter mandatory if using AK fish?

Thanks!

Hey az2000. I am a new grower within the last year and opted from the get go to use a TLO super soil recipe. I couldn't be happier with my decision.
Here is a link to my very first grow using a proven TLO recipe: I made teas a couple of times, but the rest was just plain old non Phed water. HR Photo Grow in a Hoop House-2013

Here is a link to L's recipe that I used:TLO/Super Soil recipes I am currently using this same soil after some re-amending to grow out 16 photos indoors, and have used it for many Autos with great results.

If you have not read X's thread TLO: For dummies, from a dummy. I highly encourage you, as it helped me so much when I was getting started.

I also use AK fish at times, and I would think (not positive though) that it may become an indoor odor problem. If you use a proven TLO recipe with all the amendments already in it, you would not need to use AK Fish much or not necessarily at all.

Please don't hesitate to continue to ask as many questions as you need to. We are all here to help and learn from one another.
