Had a quick question about making some qwiso hash.. Do I need to wait until by clippings are dry to freeze and do it? Or can I just chop them up real good when they're wet and then freeze? Seems to me it wouldn't matter since you're just grabbing the trichs anyway..

Thanks for the help :tiphat:

GZ don't chop up leaf and it's better to just break up bud instead of chopping it up
The more you chop it up the more chlorophyll You will get and the oilyer it will be

You want the material to be in the alcohol for no more than 30 seconds
I then run it through 6-8 coffee filters to catch as much of the plant waxes as possible

waxes as well as chlorophyll make the final product sticky and oily and just plain hard to hard to handle without the waxes and chlorophyll you get a damn near shatter style hash

Ive only done quick washes of garbage weed to concentrate it. Ive done it alot, and it seems the quicker I can get the alcohol on the plate to dry the better. I use really dry weed and put it in a jar and poor my dust for weed in it. I have a metal strainer thats alittle bit smaller holes than the metal coffee filters. I poor the alc in the jar with the weed and swirl it 9 or 10 times and poor it threw a strainer and onto a plate to dry. Its been my exp the longer the weed sits in the alc the gooeyer and less potent the end product is. I dont like mine gooey at all, usually ends up a paperbag brown color and dried its a powdery cakey substance. I smoke it ontop of cig ashes in my pipe. Smoke hash the same way. I like ice water extraction more now that ive been turned on to it. Little more work but end product tastes better.

Oh.....is this why it co es out gooey sometime cause I powder my weed? Should I not poweder my stuff when I do icewater extraction too?

I only ended up with powdery hash once using qwiso
I usually end up with extremely sticky, goeey, black hash. Such a pain to handle
I shake for about 30 seconds, then strain through 2 coffee filters, which takes forever

I guess I'll try shaking for 15 seconds and using more coffee filters

I noticed, once the iso has evaporated, if you place it in the freezer it's easier to scape off the qwiso

Thanks for all the tips guys! I already made some before I read this but here's what I did.. Did not chop up at all, this was all small trimmings from recent harvests, just the trich covered leaves no fan leaves. Put in jar into deep freeze for three hours, alcohol too.. added alcohol to mason jar full of clippings and let sit for 30 seconds, shook for 30 seconds, strained through two wet coffee filters. Still drying but looks like a plate full of milk! Stay tuned for smoke report, haha thanks for the help!

Yeap it's the waxes and chlorophyll that make the goo

I rigged up a stand and holder to hold my "extractor" so I didn't have to hold it for the 2-4 hours it takes to drain 44floz of iso through 6-8 filters which are spaced apart and why it's draining I also have a fan running blowing across the glass pan at first it drys each drop as it falls

after its dry and scraped up then I put it on a silicone mat fold it over and thanks to tang  for the idea of hot water in a bottle and roll the hash into a single chunk
