This is my second auto grow. Last grow I popped seeds using paper towel method. Then pre-watered my 2.5 gal soil pots. As per normal watering method. Then placed popped beans directly into 2.5 gal pots. These pots held enough water to keep seedling for almost 2 weeks.

My question is if I place popped beans straight into pre-watered 5gal soil pots will the new larger containers hold too much water?

It is best to sow to final pot......as long ass you have drainage holes your good bud they need to remain kinda moist till they get there first set of real leaves....I think you'll be just fine bud.

That 5 gal bucket will probably have enough until over 2 weeks from when the bean sprouts.

Ok cool thanks guy! I really liked how my last grow turned out. Seemed to have a nice root system established by the time I had to water. I hit them with some Alaska fish fert 5-1-1. They exploded to 18-24 inches I just a couple days. Ended up with just under 15 oz off 5 short stuff onyx.

Nice haul bro! Did you snap any shots of the grow?

A few things will determine how fast the pot dries out;

1. Environment (this is the biggest factor)
2. Type of pot (air pots, smart pots dry out faster)
3. Type of soil (using the same soil? more perlite, less perlite? etc etc..)
4. How fast the plants grow and use the water.

You're looking at probably the same amount of time in a 5 gallon as you did in a 2.5, IMO.

I do still have one picture on an old phone but no way to upload it. Yeah I couldn't believe the yeild I got. 3x3 home made box with 312w of cfl lighting on a hanging fixture I made myself. Roots soil, Alaska fish fert, Roots Organic Buddah Bloom, 2.5 gal nurcery pot. Total cost including seeds was about $250. I started a thread but had no way to post pics so I lost interest.

With autoflowering strains I always sow directly into the pot she will spend the remainder of her life ;) fully saturated medium and I don't give anything for no less than 12-13 days

Less stress for the plant if you pop her in her first and only pot.
I did it this time around.. only I got mine in a 8 litre pot.

Good grow karma to you :bong:
