Ok guys , here's one for ya , where I live I back onto a rain forest , now this talk about water got me thinking , what I have is a bloody big hill behind me with a gully in it that funnels the water down my side fence , now would that water be good to use having all that nice decayed matter and minerals in it . ?

As long as the water hasn't been contaminated by sewage, fertilizer run off, etc. it should be fine. I have a friend who gets very good results using water from a nearby creek. I would recommend that you test the pH and PPM/EC of the water first. If the PPM/EC is very low you may need to add some calcium/magnesium supplement to up it a bit.

If you are in a true rain forest area, the runoff will be very high in humus and other organic material, which is generally speaking good, however it will almost certainly be very acidic.
Keep that in mind, as you will probably need to amend your soil with gardening lime.
