Root slime?

I don't know what this but it is a slimey brownish blob on my roots just grew on there since 5:00 am. Res doesn't smell ph climbed but less than usual. Res temp is too high 78 f room is 85 f.
This is the only plant of five affected.

I just now added h2 o2 to the res and turned pump on will go drain clean and flush res in few minutes then add fresh nutes.

Can I rinse the root with anything, spray slime off with phed water? I really need help first hydro never seen this before!!

That may be the start of Pythium, I would say Pythium over cyanobacteria.


What kind of nutes are you using?

You are on the right track I was going to suggest 3% hydrogen peroxide, dipping the roots in a bowl filled 3/4 filled with the h202, then washing the roots off with ph'd water. Using some sterile cuticle scissors, cut away any remaining brown roots. Use bleach to clean the inside of the reservoir, then re-wipe the reservoir with a clean damp cloth to remove any residual bleach (very important)

I'd reccomend adding a liquid mycorrhizal inoculant and hygrozyme or another enzyme additive (pond cleaners can be a cheaper option) to keep hydro root issues at bay from now on

Ok I have run the eight steps cleaned res twice flushed hydroton with two gallons ph water 5.8 mixed up fresh nutes (gh 3part) ppm 775 (7.5ml m 7.5ml g 7.5 ml b)
I clipped all the slimey mess off sterile scissors and put it all back together with new airstone in the bucket.
I hope I caught it in time and it's gone time shall tell I will check on it until lights go out let you know how it looks

Cgr great link thanks for that. I pray it is not brown root slime but I don't think it is. I did what I had availible to me tonite and will be up early to see what happened overnight. No I have to find out what happened I know my res temps are getting higher since adding the. 1000 watt. Room is only a few degrees warmer though. Thx for all your help I sent you a cry for help and you were on it.

"DubV's Peace" i was horrified when i check the plants just now to find the one with the slime air pump not connected when i opened the bucket up the res had lots of little white mucous strings floating aroung
d in the mix.this is what i have done so far i put her in another bucket with just plain phed water and a few drops of h2o2 bucket holds two gallons. i am going to clean her bucket and ev erything about her system now.

i needto know how aggressive i can get with this stuff how much h2o2 can i add to her 2 gallons withoyut hurting her should i run her on straight water for a day or two while i fight this cant get neccassary ingredients for tea until the soonest tuesday next day air.

the pklant looks healthy up top and has no slime in roots and new growth overnight. i am off to combat this check back soon!!!

Got ur 6 RP.
So, this is happening in the bucket without airstone correct?
I'd run it continuously with the drip ring.
Rapped with a few heads at the local hydro shops and that was general consensus on the hydrofarms.
Continuous drip keeps the res oxygenated.
Sorry, can't help with the h2o2 as I have no experience with it.

No this one has airstone somehow I didn't see it was unhooked last check last night my bad am eight stepping now going to spray roots with ph 5.5water 1ml/gallon h2o2 hope to blast some crude off and keep rinsing my root zone it's two gallons of shit right now burn one blow smoke to the canna gods and pray for her
