Lots of hash.
Pretty much as the title suggests. I've been thinking about creating a new auto strain, and was wondering what people's opinions were on that?

I'm thinking on doing a regular 12/12 strain fem & auto male, breeding them back for a few times, then back with the mum again for stability.

I have a Northern Lights mum I was going to use, but I've recently had some new things come into my flock - not least some Martian Mean Green, a BlueBerry x Haze cross, and a Black russian (but I'm not sure if this one came from a reg or fem seed or not).

I just trying to strike up a general feeling about it all. Is there a strain out there you would like to see as an auto?

sweet as bro um i feel the same way

chocolope
raspberrycough
strawberry
headband

those would be hard i guess

Do it dude! I myself hope to make a Lowryder Flo cross... why shouldn't there be as many auto strains as photosensitive? BREED ON!!!

No harm in trying! Keep us posted.

Just realize that it will take at least 4-5 generations just to stabilize the auto gene. I would also suggest starting with pure landrace genetics for your photo period plant, and definitely don't use any fem seeds for breeding purposes.

Cheers for all the replies folks. Good advice there Muddy, yeah I've been looking into it quite a bit & realise the undertaking. I wouldn't have done it before now, but think I'm ready for it. I already have the female, from a plant that has been going around the clubs in the UK. My Diesel Ryder male I'll hopefully on my next run in 10 weeks time.

Here's the details on the plants I was thinking about. Joint Dr Diesel Ryder male x DNA Martian Mean Green female.

Joint Doctor - Diesel Ryder
Resinous, tasty auto-flowering authentic strain. This long awaited third instalment, in the Joint Doctor’s work, is a potent, extremely resinous and tasty auto-flowering plant. An inbred cross of Soma`s NYC Diesel and Lowryder #2, this strain normally produces one main cola with less branching than Lowryder or Lowryder #2.

Unlike most other Lowryder hybrids created by amateurs, in the guise of new seed companies, this strain has been worked on by the Joint Doctor and mastered over the course of some years to ensure the perfect hybrid that maintains the excellent taste and effect of NYC Diesel whilst taking the auto-flowering genetics.

Typical of the Joint Doctor`s strains, Diesel Ryder flowers automatically at 3-4 weeks and finishes in 8-9 from seed. A small proportion of this strain will grow significantly taller than other individuals. This is a good choice for closets and small indoor set-ups but please note plants do give off a powerful odour during flowering.

Genetics: New York City Diesel x Lowryder #2
Variety: sativa / indica / ruderalis
Type: Stabilized hybrid
Harvest Date: 9 weeks from seed
Flowering Period: 6+ weeks
THC Content: 17-19%

DNA Genetics Seeds - Martian Mean Green

Genetics: SharksBreath X G13 Haze
Variety: 60% Sativa
Harvest Date: October
Flowering Period: 9-10 weeks
No. of Seeds Pewr Packet: 13
Characteristics: Winner of the High Times Cannabis Cup 2005 for Best Sativa.

The chances here of something special are without a doubt! This is the same G13 Haze male that was going around Holland a couple years back. This was a male only situation due to only one seed cracking and it being male. So here you will get many different varieties. While growing these out there were some that finished in 9 weeks, but most were 10+ with one very hazy smelling plant going 12 weeks and still was cut early. She was saved for future tests.

yeah... do it dude.... or wiz will shoot you!!! lol... just kiddin... but def do it up!!!

lots of great helpful breeders here that will help walk you through it...

cheers mate!

and whats wrong with the genes of a fem plant?

Inbred Line: A line produced by continued inbreeding. In plant breeding, a nearly homozygous line usually originating by continued self-fertilization, accompanied by selection.

Zygote said:
It is conman practice in plant breeding (ALL PLANTS NOT JUST MJ) to self-pollinate potential breeding line before it is used to breed with. Making a line Homozygous

You will some times see breeding lines listed as being P1 or S1

[/INDENT]

They're taking about a plant that has been femmed, not a fem plant. A femmed plant will hermie on you in a couple of generations due to the instability of the methods used to make it a fem seed.
