Anyone out there that's done sub watering with air-pots?

I plan on using a wick of some sort out of each pot. I use Air Pots and modifying the bottom portion of my airpot to either hold some kind of cup or wicks would be easy. I'm leaning toward a wick or putting a soil extending cup in each airpot. A wick seems way easier but I'm not sure which is better. With the soil method can I just extend the soil into the basin, how deep does go? With the wick I'd probably do two or more, lots of people using different materials, not certain what works best.

Very cool. Let me tell you what I am doing. 7 gal airpots wit 14" Hydrofarm saucers that are almost 3" tall. I fed a 36" air wall aquarium aeration tube thru the bottom of pot into a loop then back up thru pot and thru soil with a tube from my air pump attached to each ends. I also added an extra aeration stone from the pump in the saucer outside the pot. By Day 34 or so the roots are now visible extending down on their own into water in saucer which I monitor closely and fill to brim once it gets down to 1/8". Now that I know I like this system I will likely add auto pots with airdome, but my diy seems to be working well and operates using simple aeration and no wicks in a deep saucer. I was very happy to see 100s of 1-2" long thin white roots hanging down into saucer when I tipped pot up to check.
I know its not a sip system but it does involve bottom watering which is nice to keep down gnats, but what I am wondering is if bottom feeding high phosphorous guano teas will keep phosphorous levels in soil itself more optimal for fungi.
I'll post pics soon.

I used a 5L reservoir gravity feeding a float valve reservoir by 1/4” tubing for sub irrigation by wicking. Four deep 10” plant saucers are each filled with perlite and fed from the float reservoir by 1/4” tubing also. Water level in the saucers is adjusted by adjusting the float valve in the reservoir (Pascal’s principle). Plant need and evaporation regulate water use. All growing is organic using FF/OF soil blended with my own SuperSoil. Lighting is from two 300W VipraSpectra LED .
