Hi guys, I have a few questions regarding a soil that I am going to use. I wasn't sure if i have posted it in the right section or not. but here goes,

I am thinking of getting this soil to use for my auto's, its called Humboldt earth.

It contains a blend of 20-25% Canadian Sphagnum peat moss, processed softwood bark, coconut coir, perlite, earthworm castings, compost, dolomite lime, fish meal, soybean meal, bat guano, kelp meal and organic wetting agent (Yucca extract).

Is this OK to use for my grow? if so would I need to add nutes to it sometime during the grow or just water, I also wanted to know if I can plant my newly germed or sprouted seedlings in this? or would I need to start them of in a seed starter mix. if so how long do I wait to transfer the newly sprouted seedling to the new soil mix.

If this soil is no good to use can somebody point me in the right direction, can you tell me what would be the ideal soil to use and what to use for seed starting mix. please nothing to complicated just make it simple so i Dont have lots of maintenance to do other than just feed them water with nutes or even water without nutes.

If anyone can help me with these questions it would be great because it would really get me on my way.

Thanks for reading if your still here, sorry about it being a bit long.

:peace:

We don't get that brand in my area but it looks like it's designed for Cannabis... and, most brands that use "Humboldt" in the name, are confirming that. The soil looks great to me.

Check and see what the manufacturer recommends. If you use nutes, I would try to use an organic line since your mix appears to be an organic mix and you want to avoid chemicals if you can. Also, start at 25% of recommended dose and gradually increase as the grow proceeds.

Not a good idea. Use seedling mix for the first two to three weeks (until sex) and then transplant to larger pots.

Thanks Joe,

The manufacturer says this. Humboldt Earth is a ready to use soil created for fast growing, moderate to heavy feeding plants. Some plants may benefit from additional fertilizing. For exceptional results, feed with high quality nutrients such as the Humboldt Nutrients line of products.

Sorry if that is too much information, What i would like to know is would you recommend using an organic line of nutes with this soil, and mainly if so when would you recommend adding the nutes because i was thinking, if i use the seedling mix for the first 3 weeks, when i transplant to the humboldt earth soil would i need to add nutes to the new soul straight away or wait, rthe reason i ask this is because it seems to me that this soil alread has alot of stuff in it. Would i get nute burn when using nutes with the early stages of transplant to this humboldt earth soil, im so confused.

Sorry for the million questions but it will really help me.

:help:

Oh i just read that the humbolt earth soil keeps the plants going for approximately 2-3 weeks without additional fertiliser. so if i keep the seedlings in a seedling cutting mix for 3 weeks then transpant to the humboldt earth then going by this i wouldnt need to add nutes for 6 weeks of the grow, what would this mean for an auto plant after six weeks without nutes.

I have used Fox Farm Ocean Forest which is similar to your mix. Usually, I start the seedlings in unferted seedling mix with the exception of adding a myco source (Great White, or something along that order for root development) Pro-Mix has already got the myco's from the bag. I start my ferts about a week after I water the transplants in, at 1/4 strength. The most important issue, bar none, is pH monitoring. Unless you want an array of issues, you don't want to pour anything into your soil that hasn't had the pH amended to the proper range for cannabis. :peace:

Thanks Joe this is great.

I will be going to buy some of this pro mix seen as I Dont need to add any additional myco source.

As for the nutes are you saying that once I have transplanted into Humboldt earth soil and watered with PH amended water for 1 week I can then start adding 1/4 strength nutes. The manufacturer says this soil doesn't need any ferts for the first 2-3 weeks, do I ignore that and just add the 1/4 strength nutes like you said anyway.

Thanks for still listening and having great patience.

Your great man.

I wasn't clear enough... I apologize.

Weeks 1-3: seedling is in seedling mix, no nutes given.

Week 4: Most of the seedlings should have shown sex by now and been transplanted. When I transplant, I water the transplant in very well so that the seedling mix completely merges with the Humboldt soil. That watering will usually last me about a week at this stage of the grow... but, it might be more or a little less. When it is time for the next watering, I start feeding every other watering from that point forward. :peace:
