new grower acidic soil advice on how to raise ph

hi all im looking for some guidance on how to raise the ph of the soil for one of my plants as the run off im getting is at 4.1 and all my other plants r at around 6. the feed water i put in is at 6.1 and the plant is is canna pro grow soil. the nutes r canna flores and 2ml of big bud. can anyone help!!!!

hi the nutes r not organic . my plant looks sick i have a lot of leaves that r turning brown and the main stem is purple from about half way up which i have been told is a lack of nutes, is this due to the soil being to acidic .

You're in what is called pH lockout. The pH is so low that the plant can't uptake the nutrients. You basically have two options. One is adding dolomite, or garden lime to your soil. Dolomite is slow acting and will take about two weeks to show improvement. The other is hydrated lime. This is much faster acting but unfortunately can be hard on the roots if too much is used. Do you have these products available to you?

i can possibly get it from the garden centre tomorrow. if i flush the plant will that raise the ph . if i can get the hydrated lime could you give me a guide on how much to use. my plants r in 3 gallon pots.

Flushing it with water at, say a pH of 7, will bring it up some but with it being that low, not near enough. Plus it's stressful on the plants. If you can get the hydrated lime, mix 1 tablespoon to a gallon of water and feed it. It will tend to settle so keep shaking it as you feed. You should see the pH rising in a few days.

Hi parqua,

I'm having the same problems. This is by no means advice. I'm just telling you what I'm trying. I've been watering with super alkaline water ~8 pH. My runoff is up to maybe 5.5 (was down in the 4's). Again, I've no idea if this is a legit solution. Basically just want to give you a bump and see what others have to say.

How are your plants doing? :goodluck:

Cheers,
Jenny
