DIY Solar panels in your grow room

The world is full of all types of inventions with solar power i'm sure you can power up many small items fans, chillers, heaters, air/water circulators maybe even another light
Yep i did that ones. JUST a small solar PANEL.
I had it hooked up to a battery.
And all my smal pc fans + a water pump was powered thru it...
BUT if you do the math...
It will take MANY years to get even. (POWER SAVINGS) and the money spent for
Solar panel + battery
But this is years ago and the solar panels have improved.
and got alot cheaper also..

I certainly have dreamed of it. A 2.5-3 Kw Would handle my current space wonderfully. Even if I went with a grid tie type of system instead of batteries, it's still about $6,000.00 US as a DIY project from kit.
I have though of trying one of those 45 watt setups from Harbor Frieght when the go on sale for about $150.00 without a battery. Sure would be fun!!

dont waste your time is my advice.. 
solar panels arent very efficient in non-sunlight... even the high efficiency ones. invest in low-power hi qualiy fans and other accessories.... my rule is... buy once well... not 3 times crappy..

if you are thinking to power your GR with solar... is bucks in panels and batteries or grid-tie system. $30k typically for a small grow setup.

Thanks for the replies guys its given me something to think about just seems like there's a lot of energy being wasted in my grow room ie light and heat think I'm going to get a solar powered isolating fan and give that a go got to think green

You are right about the heat for sure (other stuff too). I am recycling the heat my grow room produces. I have the cool tubes for my HID lighting plumbed into the basement. It surprised me just how much heat it adds. If I could only store it for later, so when the household heat is off or down I could use it. Thought of some type of storage like I had in a south facing room. I had 40, 5 gal water cans made of black plastic that would soak up the sunlight and radiate heat all night! It was pretty cool how well that worked, Oh well it would take up too much precious grow space!
