New Grower Some beginner question

Heyy!

I have some question in genearal topic.
1. The first is about the seeds. If I dont use all of the seeds what I order, whitch is the best way to store them? And they have shelf life, or I can use it example a year later?

2. Another thing is the lighting. I see many grown journy with Think Different, and the plants usually big. I dont want to grow big plants. If I use 12/12 lighting period in the veg. and just give them the 18/6 when start to flower its workable? I mean they stay short, and dont hurt them the 12/12, or its bulls*it?
If its dont work, can resolved the problem with scrog example?

3. Can I utilize the other parts of the plant?

4. Should I protect the plants inside with pollen mesh (just protect the inake vent)? In summer the windows are always open, and the vent will circulate this air, in the box. Can pollens hurt my plants inside?

Thanks in advice quys. Maybe they look stupid questions, but the answers can save me from many unexpected problem! :thumbs:

1.Seeds can be stored in a air tight jar in the fridge for a year or more.

2.12/12 isn't recommeded for autos.Stay with 18/6 for entire grow.Think diferent is a larger auto,If you want a smaller plant try lowryder 2.

3.No,unless you mean the trim from the buds that can be used to make hash.

4.No,unless you have male plants outside.Pollen from anything else wouldn't effect MJ.

I will add my here:

1- seeds stored as per namvet25! I store mine in a cool dark drawer in my basement.

2- I have a grow of auto's on 12/12 at the moment. So far they have been growing like crazy.
Not to their full potential and they are a bit shorter but the buds are forming like crazy!
So 12/12 is an option IF it is the only available option.
Otherwise go with some shorter plants like lowryder, as per namvet25!

3- To some extent you can, it all depends on how the trichs form.
I have seen some plants that have them all over, not just on the buds.
Otherwise you can eat the leaves, no effect except they are quite healthy.
Some people will trim and process the whole plant to get as much THC from the plant as possible.
Most times it is not worth it though!

4- Pollen from other plants will not affect you MJ plants.
Only people that grow outside in your area may affect your grow.
Better safe than sorry and know your area.

i don't want to grow big plants either. i started them on 18/6 and reduced the light in flowering first to 16/8 and then to 14/10. i see no difference. it's quite the contrary; they thrive and develope awesomely (awesomely, does this word exist?). anyways, since i reduced the light the flowering seems to be more intense. i think due to the sativa dominance of my polarlights. usual photoperiod sativas will even accept 11/13 and still flower.

people say more light = more bud. could be! but the current status is that my plant will give me more bud than i expected. and i'm satisfied with this.

you definitely won't hurt them when giving them less light than 18/6, since most of the development takes place in the dark period.

Use small cups to keep them short. The ones I grow in 13 oz cups are 13 inch on average. One in 33 oz is 16 inch. But it is a dwarf variety, I don't know what the approximate height would be on medium+ strain.
