New Grower Some questions before my I begin my first grow

Hey all,

1. Can I grow Auto plants in the same room as the Non-Auto plants grow?
2. I have a 1.5 square meter growing room and I want to take advantage so I've got a shelf for the plants that are in Veg-state (Light proof with vents) that goes in the Flower room, can I expect everything to go well?
3. How many plants can I expect to grow under a 300W LED light?
4. I'm planning on getting a carbon filter so outgoing air should be fine with do fine with a 4" blower right?
5. Will a 2" Vent for incoming air suck in enought air for the room?

1.Yes up until you have to go 12/12 for your photos.
2. As long as you have room and light wont get into the photo room it should work.
3. Maybe four smaller plants or two to three larger ones.
4.4 inch blower should work fine
5. 2inch incoming vent is to small 6x6 or larger would be better.

2) as long as light doesn't disturb any photo sensitive plants then yes

4) when you say fine, do you mean no smell? As long as your humdity isnt' too high carbon filters do an excellent job of scrubbing smells from the exhaust air yes. Check your cubit meters per hour rating of your fan and make sure that your filter basically matches it.
5) could be fine, I would guess.. Only way to know for sure is to set everything up and run it for a couple of days and monitors the temps and humidity. Get a couple of hygrometers and set them up in a couple of spots in the grow space and you'll see for yourself. General rule of thumb is that your exhaust system can replace the air every 5 minutes.

A couple of things, Mal:
You don't mention having a pH meter. If you don't have one, you might want to include it in your start-up budget. The drops are cheap and get you in the pH ball park, but can be a bit tough to read- at least for my old eyes.
Just a thought, if you're new to growing, don't bite off too much at once (again, just my opinion). Maybe think about getting one or two harvests under your belt before mixing autos and photos.

Agreed cheap Chinese meters are bad bad bad. I got a good one recently for €40 or so. Always reads right. I barely ever need to calibrate it have had a couple of decent ones in the past but this one takes the cake. Will post up a pic and details if anyone is interested.

I recently got the Eco pH 2. Under $50, and very good so far. Just make sure to order the calibration and storage fluids, whatever you get! :thumbs:

Basically you want a PH pen with auto calibration, auto switch off, hold PH reading so you can read it easily when you take the pen out of the tank, floatable if dropped into the tank is a good feature too. Generally you don't get that unless you spend close to $50 or over.

Where did you get the Eco pH 2 from for $50 RRedneck?? Over this part of the world it's about £65 which works out to be $110!
