Hi all, i'm growing a gh's jack herer and a DP's durban poison, and spider mites started to appear and eat my babies!
my grow:

I brewed some tobacco juice, sprayed today, and i would like to know for how long i should continue spraying, and at which intervals?

Tx in advance for any help or answers!!
:sniper hunting:
Have a good one!

Hi Velveto!
Thanks for putting a link to your grow...Lookin' good!
Except for the mites.
We have used a tobacco tea before...if you haven't used it yet, I would advise not to.
There are products you can buy or make some with orange oil and soap.

Hope you get them taken care of soon!

You also will get more responses if you post your question in AFN's Live Help Thread

Tx for your help,I've already used the tobacco tea today!
Is it unhealthy for the plant?
Cheers!

Hi Velveto! I just had a look at your thread pics, and the pale spotting looks like thrip damage to me, not spider mites.... their damage is mostly on the underside of the leaf, and has an odd almost a dull silvery sheen to it; a major infestation will have the signature silk strands close to the surface, and yes, they are minute to the eye,... Thrips are an altogether different vermin! They are also small, but not like mites-- this dash would be a large thrip (-), and similar in shape; they are very mobile, fast and will actually evade you when looking for them! ...adults can fly, and outdoors, they are always around,... they, like the mites, pierce and suck juices, but being larger, they make a pale spot where they bite, but can also make the silvery stippling that is similar to spider mites when they've been working the leaf over,...:cuss:... The larvae hang around, but adults may dine and dash, sometimes... *** So, it's a war, not a battle with them, since you're outside, and more will move in to take the place of those you kill now,... I grow OD's too, so I know and despise these little poop-stain vermin- :roflcry: .... I've been using spray products with spinosad in it, to good effect; Neem, Axamax, Safer soap products will work too; all these are listed as food garden safe, no synthetic death chem's.... Thrips lay eggs on/in the plant, larvae feed, then drop to the soil to pupate, then hatch as adults,... no feeding during pupae stage... these sprays are contact killers, meaning the bug must get hit directly to kill, so thorough top and bottom spraying of leaves is a must! Adding a water spreader, beyond what's in there already, will make a big difference in penetrating power,... I've never tried the tobacco thing, but if Root says don't, I'd listen! She'll tell you why, 'cause I don't know... probably an effectiveness thing, or potential for concentration toxicity,... Diatomaceous earth would be a great broad spectrum killer for all your plants; sift a nice layer over the surface of soil, just enough that you can't see the soil ,... at the micro-scale, this stuff is like jagged glass shards and needles, and cuts up the bugs in tender spots, making them bleed out... :twist: ... Oh! the little black specks-- are you sure they're actually bugs? the poop thrips leave behind is tell-tale-- little black specks! ** good luck, be vigilant, treat and scope out regularly bro', and you'll keep the population down to non-issue levels,....
