I went to trim up some plants today that are ready to chop and saw the dreaded webbing. I ordered some azamax. I am hoping that will kill the pests on my other plants. Anyone use the stuff? I was also thinking of freezing some buds tomorrow to try to kill the ones that may be eating my buds, but read that freezing them may not kill them. I don't assume it makes any sense to spray buds with azamax that I am getting ready to dry? I wish I could suffocate them in mason jars. I am also going to bomb the grow room and buy insect strips tomorrow and hope that helps. I have 13 newly germed autos in the room also. I need help. any suggestions?

Don't suggest using azamax anywhere near flowering. Neem oil is a good natural and organic alternative that's proven to work. It also repels most bugs. Pretty cheap too.

are these things eating my buds or just foliage? If so, can I spray neem oil on the buds? will it alter taste/smell?

Do not spray neem oil on plants 2 weeks prior to harvest. Yes, you will be able to smell and taste it. It is pretty pungent stuff. I would recommend something like SNS 217 Spider Mite Control Spray | Sierra Natural Science that you can use pretty late into harvest. If you are harvesting soon(like within the week) you will want to dose them one good time then let them dry for a few days then come back with water and spray the residue off then wait a few days then harvest.

As for your newly planted ladies, I would do attack it this way. Spray them and the soil down good for now, once you have harvested everything you are going to harvest, move everything out of your grow room, clean it from top to bottom and spray all the nooks and crannys with the sns217 or neem oil or whatever you like. Just make sure your room is clean from top to bottom before spraying. Then, move everything back in and keep an eye on your young ones. You may want to continue spraying them for a few weeks just to be on the safe side.

Best of luck chrisp. Those can be a PITA to get rid of.

Hi there Chrisp

How about a vaccuum cleaner, I seen big operation guys on a show called weed inc. doing that. After almost forty years of smokin', I assume I have smoked a spider mite or two, and I am still alive.

As soon as I got my magnifying glass, I wished I hadn't, heh heh heh.

bye for now

Peace

Eek

Salutations Chrisp,

I was also thinking of freezing some buds tomorrow to try to kill the ones that may be eating my buds, but read that freezing them may not kill them. ... I wish I could suffocate them in mason jars. ...any suggestions?

Welcome to my world...

At such an advanced stage of infestation i'm afraid there's going to be spider waste which needs to be removed. So my guess is this will require water curing, to handle the Borg poop issue, eventually... In the meantime, i'd be extra careful with that freezer idea as this will render your trichromes brittle, though they do slow down dramatically under cold temperature conditions. The question being: is it worth an attempt to complete the flowering phase at, say, ~20 degrees Celcius?...

:peace:

Thanks for the feedback. I have five plants I planned to cut and hang tomorrow, backed by 9 that will be ready in a week to 10 days. Plus the 13 young plants. I guess I will just cut , hang , and dry the five . Then just let the other 9 run their course and wipe down the young plants. In ten days when I harvest the other 9 , I will clean the whole room. Does that sound like a good plan??? Hope that wasn't a confusing run on sentence.

Maybe freezing is a bad move. It was just a passing thought in a moment of panic. I don't imagine spider mite waste is harmful. I remember some thirty years ago smoking weed that had worms in it. Bag worms for lack of better name. Good point though and I appreciate your help and advice.

EEk , were you giggling when you wrote that? Giggling's Island.

Hi again Chrisp,

I guess I will just cut , hang , and dry... I don't imagine spider mite waste is harmful.

Well, i wonder what's going to stop the mites then, so maybe it's quite about time to drown them all instead; if it's of any comfort to you just imagine you can hear them die!...
