Hey guys,

I should start off by saying that I am a complete amateur, doing this for fun. If I get a few buds out of it, I'll be happy. I've learned a lot (plenty from this forum) and could probably do a much better job if I started over.

I've got a Blue Mammoth and a Red Diesel Auto. Both outdoors getting plenty of sun during the day and indoors at night. They are in soil. I've given nutrients very sparingly as worried about burning them and not really bothered about yield.

The Red diesel looks good (bud pic attached). I've started giving the BM 12 hours of dark, since Sunday night to see if it kicks things off. It's hardly showing any signs of flowering.

Just putting it out there to see if I am missing anything obvious or if I am wasting my time on a lost cause.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I am far from expert. But with plants, everything happens slow. Starting 12 hour light exposure on Sunday night, with this now Tuesday daytime (<48 hours), may not be long enough to visibly see signs of induced budding.

Maybe, to get this plant going quicker or with more certainty, give it less than 12 hours light?

or worse case scenario you got a photo seed by accident. if that is the case then it could take some like he said.

:toke: mate, how old is the BM? It's a Barney's girl, so already I worry some,... their auto's are not the best IMO, a lot of hit and miss genetics... This strain is a long grower, they say she make take 4 weeks+ to really switch to bloom, vs about 3 weeks for most others,.... she looks healthy, maybe a bit pale (time to ramp up food, the soil is depleting and they are at highest demand now),... pending your info on age, it does happen on occasion that an auto, won't!.... more common in sloppy breeders, less in good ones, but it still happens,... seeds are a little gamble, fem's, auto's especially.... If so, the driop to 12/12 or maybe even 14/10 usually does the trick, but if she resists for long, and it's rare, but some grow fine but just won't f'ing bloom properly, meanwhile you waste resources expecting it!

Hey Waira,

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply.

The BM is 56 days old. I rushed into buying the seeds and have read since of trouble "auto-ing', but also some people saying they are easy to grow for beginners.
Out of 4 seeds, only one germinated, although I am an amateur so could have been me. They gave me the red diesel free which has been a dream to grow - super easy.

I've been giving BM 12 hours of darkness since Sunday night - so 5 nights so far. It's not made much difference as far as I can tell but still early days (Photos below were taken just now). I swear it is getting massive, maybe there was a mix-up and it is actually a conifer or Christmas tree?!?! Lol. I can't work out if the thin leaves at the top are emerging sugar leaves, or just thin new fan leaves - I've got prematurely excited about that previously, so assuming just more Fan Leaves. I'd be interested to know if you think it could be the sign of some action?!

I see what you mean about the new leaves being pale. The older leaves are darker green (whole image is a bit washed out due it being so sunny). I've been very careful with nutrients as I got some leaf burn at the start. I put the BM on bloom nutes when the red diesel starting budding (probably 3 weeks ago, assuming it would not be far behind). Would you suggest more "veg" nutes then to sort out the leaf colour?

I've posted a few images of the diesel (last 2 images), would you be able to tell how long away she will be? Hoping to harvest before I go on Holiday for a few weeks in the middle of September. Looks like I will need to ask someone to tend to the BM as no way that will be done by then!

Thanks again for replying and in advance of any more help :)

...stay on the program, it may take another week or so,... Bloom nutes won't trigger the switch, that a hormonal thing that's linked to dark hours,... just feed her maybe a little grow + bloom mix for now... I see pistils, so she's sexed at least!
RD too early to say, but about 3 weeks maybe depending on her finishing speed,....

Thanks for the advice. Really appreciated. BM seems to have really started now. Not sure if the dark helped or not but going to carry on with it anyway.

I recently had a WorldOfSeeds auto NorthernLights x BigBud that took 10 weeks to start flowering in hydro, as one of several plants in a 3 ft x 3 ft tent.
All the other strains took the usual 3-5 weeks, as did the first NLxBB grown about a year ago.
This mutant got huge, and I had to chop off 2 feet before the start of flower. Its unimpeded height probably would've been 9 ft.
I finally harvested it before fully ripe after 17 weeks to make room for other plants, at which time it had filled up the whole tent with bent over branches, and yielded 15 oz dry.
The quality is much better than expected for not fully ripe bud.

If you can afford the time, this could be a blessing in disguise.

Wow. I’ll keep you posted if that happens [emoji23]
I don’t plan on growing anything else after these so I’ll let it run as long as it takes (within reason).
