I have been growing outdoors for some time. I have noticed something. My gf thinks I am nuts but wanted to post and see if there is anyone else who has experienced this.

After a rain. Even after i have watered, my plants go absolutely INSANE! i notice up to an inch of growth for ZERO reason. I have asked other growers but they cant relate becasue they are all indoor setups.

I keep my plants watered so it isnt a lack of water or anything. My water is distilled and perfect. Maybe its just mother nature? I am being serious too, no idea what causes this.

Anyone out there ever experience this in their outdoor gardens?

On a limb, I am going to say that the temporary acidic decrese in soil pH from the rainwater improves nitrogen availability. Though, the opposite could easily be possible. Manganese is very important and often ends up excluded from nutrient availability.. possibly it's that. I recommend you gather rain and test it's pH as a place to start. From there it may lead you to a good place pH wise for your strain.

^^ I wish I completely understood his answer. Now I have to google and read :)

I agree it could be ph related. I also believe that rainwater is great for my plants. I only brew DWC/guano tea when I know it will rain because it seems to work best that way.
Just a theory here but maybe the rainwater has some type of electrical charge or something that helps. Kinda like the product that cyclones water through a magnet and claims to give better results... Ok I'm a little baked lol but maybe...

The difference in growth is very noticeable after a rain. Ive noticed it for awhile too. Is rain structured water? Ive seen good things about structured water but no real evidence of whats going on with it.

If your watering your outdoor plants with Distilled water especially, there are many more natural and magnetized particulates and and more natural elements.agreed that there are bad too these days, but imo thats the largest reason why.My first few plants I did that with did that and I chalked it up to that ,or something fairly similar with TDS n Ec n all that jazz. ya know.Have Fun:Sharing One:

Oh and I suppose on a side note if you give cooler water bubbled or not, will provide slight traces of extra O2 in the Transition area of the Root zone and really benefit the plant on hot days. And with soil id think that when wet the charge of it so wet with such high grade particulates(if ya will) it lowers soil and earth PH to a small point as a rule but buffers itself out as a rule if its decent.Take it easy man and happy growing buddy.

Great feedback. Thanks guys. I think i am going to test my rain waters PH just to have a look. i know my plants are heatly and everything is great. just weird that EVERY time it rains, bursts of growth is very apparent.

Glad its noticed by others as well.

And to correct my first post. i do not use distilled water. i have a small spring on my land and I pull all my water from there.

This is crazy, I was just thinking the exact same thing as I have just watered my organic indoor grow with collected rainwater as per Eeks advice earlier.

Now I'm no expert, but usually when I water, the plants leaves droop a little after, before perking up again.

Well I just watered about an hour ago, check it out....

The reason you see good growth after you use rain water is because it contains small amounts of nitrogen that it collects from the atmosphere as it falls.
