So i always heard "stretching" generally something to be avoided . now i had this grow with a few plants under quantum board led light .it was a flat canopy with all stems pretty much the same height. one night just to try out i supplemented with some low watt pretty reddish led bulb . it has a very low coverage and also a few ir and uv diodes . now the next morning as i went to check things out i noticed that the stems which were right under that led stretched a good amount so they were alot taller than the others . Then the bulb was removed. Now the curious thing was in the end they turned out to be much more bigger overall, more internodes aswell as yield .even the stalk was like double in thickness as all the others. note the light was on only one night but the extrapoportianal growth happened over time ...kinda curious what to make of this . Can stretch increase yield ? Should i have let that led bulb on for a longer period . i also wonder if the uv spectrum has something to do with it ...hmmm... any thoughts ?

I run extra blue in veg and then on the second week of the flip for photos and the first week of flower on autos I run Far Red for 15 minutes following lights out. The blue helps keep the plants compact in veg and gives tighter internodes. Then the far red initiates the stretch and opens the plants up for bloom. Then when the plants get into flowering in earnest I turn on the AgroMax UVA Plus 10,000K lamps. The last 3 weeks of flower I add the AgroMax PURE UV lamp 75%UVB 25%UVA for an hour or two a day.

The UVA enhances the terpene profile and the UVB boosts THC and all cannabinoids.
The far red can get the stretch going fast as you experienced. There is a lot of red in my main lights ChilLed GrowCraft.

Sounds awesome man . It seems really worth it to supplement with UV and ir . I just read in an article from "Platinum Led" that a certain amount of far red does indeed promote bigger stem growth which would explain what i observed on my plants .

These agromax light look promising ,too bad they don't seem to available anywhere here in europe Looking for an alternative now .

Thanks for the input !

How long does it take for the far red to induce the stretch and increase the internodal spacing?
I have a Mars SP3000. Tina wouldn't answer a question of what is the percentage of total output is the far red, not that you couldn't figure it out with the proper instrument. The oldest of my girls (Linda seeds Gelato33)is 27 days with about 10 days of daily training and is just now really starting to take off the last four days. Like the other two few days younger GG4s, they still have very tight internodal spacing. This morning I can seemingly see a slight increase in internodal spacing on the new growth on mainly the oldest GG4, but still tight as hell on the Gelato33. Pretty sure that's mainly genetics in the difference between the two.
I'm holding off training today and may start back late Sunday. Just doing it to see how much daily height growth I'm getting. I did have to move up my lights 2 1/2 inches first thing this morning because of growing to within 18inches of the light. and in anticipation of the growth of today and tomorrow.
I've watched Dr Bruce Bugbee with Apogee Instruments Inc. vids on light many times and find it extremely interesting.
