Sunshine mix is supposed to be or is a soilless mix right?

but its made of peat moss?

Peat moss is organic?

Im confused =s

Sunshine mix is soilless and yes peat is organic. It is the starter nutes they use in them that is not. Although they do have an organic mix as well now. It is called Sunshine Mix #(whatever) Natural and Organic.

Didnt know that A4 I use Mix#4 and like it so far! its really loose! i think i will mix it 50/50 with some FFOF my second mission. Hope its not too hot for them! And as for why i think its confusing is because its soiless as in it doesnt contain soil or (real Dirt that you find under all grass) but then again i could be wrong. Im :stylez rasta smoke: right now!

Is it because its treated chemically so it makes it non-organic?

Does that mean using a chemical nutrient watered in a organic medium would require a soilless ph(on the feed etc)?

It is made from organic peat moss but is treated with non organic chemicals(nutes) so its really how you look at it. is it organic yes, is everything about it organic,no. one of those "catch 22s" and ph I dont think so. i treat mine like soil and keep it at 6.5 it is really easy to keep it steady there im using sea grow 16-16-16 and 4-26-26. im thinking of flushing my soil next time before i use it now that A4 filled me in on the non organic additives.

It is dependent on the grower really. I use Promix, which is basically the same thing as Sunshine. I have grown with a ph of 6.3-6.5, 6.5-6.8 and 5.6-5.8. I grow at 5.6-5.8 now, I noticed around 6.5 and above I begin to see micro deficiencies in the stretch stage and when I stay below 6.3 I don't.

Very interesting i might have to lower my ph, i been growing like im using regular soil. see i learn something new everyday. i bet if i bring my ph down a bit i will see a big change! hmmmmm now you got me thinking A4

I think several of the soilless growers shoot for between hydro and soil ph. Everyone seems to feel like that is the sweet spot for Promix and Sunshine. The only reason I go hydro ph is because that was what had been recommended to me from my nutrient supplier. It seems to work perfectly fine for me. I think the biggest thing with ph is really just trying to keep it fairly even through the grow. Seems like plants will adapt to most ph in a normal range so long as it is stable. The swings is what really wreaks havoc on a grow. A little swing is normal and good, like .3 or so but over .5 is where you start seeing the problems. It gets used to taking up nutrients at a certain ph and then the swing hits and it has to adjust. That is just my theory, nothing really I have read states that. So take it with a grain of salt.

Nice my plant are responding fairly well to the ph right now dont wanna do sumn too drastic and upset them. ill keep that in mind for my side mission and my next.
