I've wondered about this too. I used GH Flora series for my first grow. Their schedule (and the so-called "useless" schedule I followed <<link) call for an intermediate period where it's a bit of both veg and flower nutrient. I did this on my first grow and had great results (especially for a first grow).
But, both schedules are more for photosensitive plants. I condensed it into the auto timeframe, doing the intermediate thing for 4-5 days.
I've switched to Grow More Sea Grow and the people who use it (according to the schedule that was posted <<link) just switch from veg to flower nutes. I'm still using GM and haven't formed an opinion. But, was thinking recently it might be useful to blend the veg/flower mix for 1-2 waterings over 4-5 days.
It could be that an auto's lifespan is so short, and flips to flower without any outside influence, that there's no need to ease into the nutrient change.
One thing I was reading recently (<<link) is about a plant's menopause-like "change of life" into flower mode and that liquified calcium helps it make the transition. I've saved a few eggshells and plan to try this on my 4th grow (which is a week old).
