I have a 4x5 grow room. In there I have 3 super skunks that are ready to switch over to 12/12 flowering cycle. Problem is, I also have 1 Kush and 2 other super skunks that are not ready to flower. ( SS and Kush non auto's) Also I have 9 auto low riders that are about 3 inches tall. Yes I know this was poor planning. Live and learn. I have been taking the three SS out of the room and into dark room every morning at 6am and returning them to grow room at 6pm. I am currently using a 600 watt MH and four 100 watt CFL's. QUESTION: Would it be OK to switch to a HPS bulb ?? Would it hinder my auto's growth? The HPS would be better for my SS flowering process. Personally I don't think it will hinder auto's growth. Was told if I had to pick one bulb for entire growth cycle..choose HPS. This is my first auto grow and would like to get the opinion of those with knowledge. Thank you all for taking the time to help. Peace

Hi Chrisp

Welcome to AFN!! :)

It's my feelings that a HPS bulb is fine for an entire auto grow. I've been using a HPS with extended blue spectrum (grolux) with success.
I say switch to your HPS, finish it all off 12/12 and next time plan vegging your photos from the middle to the end of your auto grow (if you wanna keep mixing it up ^_^)

Why not pop up a "hello" over at introductions for a nice warm welcome from our members!

Happy growing!

All the best
Blue ^_^

edit: the 12/12 "will" probably hinder your autos growth. Reduced light hours will effect growth and yeild - but you'll get something and hopefully the Photo yield will make up for it!

Welcome To The Crew .......:stylez rasta smoke:.......ENJOY!

The autos will stay on 20/4 for now. I move the photos out of the room into separate quarters in total dark for 12 hours. As it gets colder I may switch 600 watt to 400 watt and run it 24 hours a day for the warmth it will provide. The light has 3 three settings. Thank you for the quick reply. Info is appreciated.

I use HPS all the way thru. I germinate then put into a 1" plug. Put under your cfl. wait till u see the root poke thru the bottom. Then put into 3 gallon pot with a good soil. Fox farms ocean forest good beginner soil. Put under your HPS.18/6 for the entire life cycle. You will hear diff bout the light. Don't listen. You can research the strain your gonna use. It's true some like 24/4. Personally it's a waste of resources but that's my 2 cents. Don't top it. Stressing it will decrease your yield. There not made for that. People will argue that too. It's true one in every few are successfully topped but if u want to take a chance of sacrificing yield go for it. No nutrients for two weeks. If your using a soil with nutes in it like the fox farm u will just burn it or stress it. After 2 weeks u can add 1/4 strength grow veg nutes one time if you want. Then bloom rest of way. I use General Organics have had great luck. Good luck with your grow brothaaaaaa!
