what are your opinions regarding samples before harvest?

being a new grower and not having been able to grow all this beautiful strains
i am thinking of sampling on different stages to see/feel the difference per

days around 65 (for those early strains) / @ day 70 / @ day 75 then harvest
*sample will basically be taken after the last feed/during cleanse*

is it worth it?!

if so -- how many days before harvest should you start sampling?

which part of the bud should you pull from?

quick dry methods

would love to hear some thoughts on this

----

ive personally taken samples from some strains ive grown

- did not remember what days they were taken from but it was a couple weeks before the harvest

- lowest part of the plant (receiving less light)

- had to quick dry ofcourse -- but it did its job

I personally don't take samples before there ready unless your out of stash.I just let her do her thing and wait till she's fully ripe.:smokebuds:

Great post. I personally stopped taking samples. They never have tasted or been as affective as it is after a proper cure. I do now often stagger my harvest so everything in the final jar has a similar taste and feel.

I did exactly that with my first grow of two plants.

As I had three seeds of the same strain, which I was ready to run directly after my first grow had finished, I used the first two plants as a test to see when I wanted to harvest my further batches.

I took them a branch at a time, as I had been LST'ing I had plenty to work with. Took the first at day 60, then at 5 day intervals until I ran out which took me to day 90.

The first plant I quick dried using short bursts on a low temperatured bread toaster, didn't cure it.

The second I dried and cured correctly on a washing line in a cardboard box followed by being sealed and burped in pop-jars (can't remember the correct name atm, it's been a long day lol).
I also tested it in 5 day intervals during the curing stages as well with hugely noticable differences.

From my notes (GEEK), I remember day 60 and 65 were very racy, no body stone at all. Left me with a horrible paranoia for an hour or so, which I don't suffer from in the slightest usually.
Hated it, will never chop this early again.

Day 70 and 75 was a instant racy high followed by an gentle floating stone.
Really enjoyed this but had zero use for my insomnia and kept me awake many a night. Great day time smoking.

Days 80, 85, and 90 were all very similar after drying, a perfect heavy stone with zero paranoia, a nice creative mental buzz followed after the first hour.
The difference came once I had cured them. A noticable difference in a couchlock stone the longer it was cured and the improved flavour was something else, so worth the wait.

I had fun testing my plants like this to find the kind of highs I was looking for, which are a day 75-85 for day-time toking and an 85+ for night-time snoozing, but I wouldn't do it again, nor would I ever quick dry or skip curing. The end result is so worth the effort you put in steering yourself away from temptation.

Awesome thread herbal

Keep it classy

I like to take sample when the trichs are mainly cloudy then again when there more amber, unless i wana go for the head high which i usualy do with 1 girl a harvest then i take it when there all cloudy... I always take 2 samples each time one from the bottom and one from near the top you get a better idea where its at:smokebuds:
