Ok my mates new set up has come. Running a 250w Cfl inside a dr60 with a 4inch outtake and passive intake with the bedroom windows open and his temps are still saying its at 86f? Any ideas? Surely a cfl doesn't give off alot of heat I sometimes run mine in a cupboard with no fans and have no problem also that size outtake came with the kit so should be fine right.

I run a 130w cfl for veg. It does give off a fair amount of heat. I use 4 inch extraction from my cab, I put a second 130w cfl in the space and couldn't get the heat down. In the end just removed the second light as didn't want to leave the cab door open and found this was the easiest way to get temps down.

What speed is your fan on?
What are your temps outside your tent and is the exhaust blowing out of the window or back into the room?

Fan didnt come with speed settings. The temps outside the tent must be bloody cold its at my friends so i dont know but we live near and at the moment with have snow on the ground and he has both his bedroom windows open. exhaust is blowing into the room yes.

Can a dr60 not run a 250w? if so im pretty pissed off for my friend because he brought this set up as a package.

No, that should handle a 250 just fine. I suggest you try and get that exhaust duct running at or out of the window. Your pumping that stale, warm air back into the room. That could be the issue. How big is your intake and where is it located? :D

Aye, it's 63 ambient in the room my tent is in (it's a little bigger than a DR60), I run 200W of fluorescent light, and if I zip the tent up completely the temps wind up north of 85F. To combat this I leave the bottom of the tent unzipped with a box fan blowing at the tent near my open window. This brings my temps down to 73-78 (78 if the HPS is on).

I'd get a couple of small fans and put them outside the intake of the tent and have them blow at the intake to push the cooler ambient air in. Sometimes an active exhaust can solve all of your problems!

If it's brand new kit it might be OK after a couple of days, i've noticed new CFL's burn just slightly hotter at first.

Make sure your seals around the fan, filer and ducting are all perfect and fan is pointing correct direction, make sure there is no rips in the ducting and minimize amount of bends in the ducting.
