I have been lurking for several months reading all I can about auto's. You folks have really inspired me.

A bit about me. Longtime smoker. Will be a new grower shortly. I live in Washington state where weed is legal recreationally but growing only allowed for medical patients. I am a medical patient as well. I live on a few acres and will do a outdoor grow in Eastern Washington which is much sunnier, warmer and drier than Seattle on the other side of the Cascade Mountains.

My wife said I needed a new hobby. Challenge accepted.

I will also be building a grow room in my shop, 4x4 is my goal to be completed by fall. Still debating the usual, LED vs HID, do I want a/c etc, although I am leaning toward no a/c and just grow outside in the summer and bring it indoors for the other parts of the year.

I have already ordered and received seeds from Herbies... DP 6x AutoMazar, 3x Auto Night Queen, and 3x Dinafem Critical.

I will grow 6 outdoors for my first attempt. I helped a buddy down the street build a greenhouse and may get things started there.

I am still a few months away from growing outside but have the benefit of 20some retail weed stores in my city, as well as some medical marijuana dispensaries as well to get me by in the interim.

Anyway, I appreciate all you have done to document and share your experiences for a newbie like me.

Forgot to add, I also received DP 3x Think Different as well

Any suggestions for outdoor strain recommendations appreciated.

Welcome and I look forward to seeing how your grow goes.

:toke: Welcome buddy! :bighug:
Certainly nice to have another outdoor grower in our midst, sounds like you have a good start on some genetics. Not sure what to recommend as far as outdoor autos but Dutch Passion is a good place to start for sure!
Can't wait to follow your outdoor thread! If you need any specific help, feel free to tag one of the High Team members (or anyone for that matter) by adding a @ before their screen name.
@912GreenSkell will be thrilled to have another northern outdoorsman too.

Best of luck with this season's setup, I'll be peeking in when I can.

Thank you Ripper and surffreak for the greetings and encouragement

Hey great to meet you JMQ! And yes surffreak is absolutely right, I am ecstatic to have another outdoor grower on here!(seems outdoor growing is a dying art)
Nice strain selection! You ought to do fine with the strains you bought. The biggest thing I have found with outdoor autos is make sure you wait for nice warm weather before they go outside. Ive found cool(15degrees celcius or cooler) temps and young plants have a very negative effect on end yield. Oh and make sure you introduce the plants to sunlight before they go outside full time! Good luck on your grow, feel free to tag or pm me if you have any questions

Thank you so much 912GreenSkell for the feedback and support
I was all excited to start early but was wondering if I should wait a little longer for better summer weather
You confirmed what I was thinking, Thanks
Since I went to public school I have to figure out what 15 degree celsius is (59f)
IS 15c the min high or low temp? I am a noob

15degrees as a high/average day time temp.
So I live in northern cannada and my late may to mid june temps "can" be rough. Ive found a cold snap for a night doesn't seem to slow too much, but any extended cooler periods(3 or more days) have a big effect.
The best thing about autos is having control over their life cycle. I am doing a handful of autos again this year outdoors. I want them to finish in august, so I am timing my start date to correspond. I'm growing out mostly 10-12 week strains(also running dutch passion autos Daiquiri Lime, Auto Ultimate, Brooklyn Sunrise, Colorado Cookies), so I figure a May the 1st start under lights will put me right on the mark. Now the month of may is too cold to put plants out here for sure. I put photoperiod plants outside on June the 1st, but I will hold off on putting the autos in the ground, until the 2nd week of june due to their sensitivity.

Great intro pal, welcome from the lurking side of life. I grew some outdoor stuff, don't know if it is relevant to your patch, but check out my outdoor grow in my signature below.

Enjoy, eP.
