The Autoflower.org Master Glossary

I'm sure most of you have seen it or noticed it, but we are building out a new Glossary system for the forum based on cannabis lingo, literature, common and key words, etc, relating to cultivation, autoflowers, lighting, breeding, etc.

It's a hell of an undertaking, not going to lie lol. It started out just being autoflower terms, then I started adding shit randomly and well... now it's a comprehensive guide!

But, I have a several hundred glossary terms already added in, fully loaded with SEO friendly descriptions and keywords, and it's going to be a continual work-in-progress as time goes on (I honestly don't know if this thing has an ending, only improvements and additions.)

Eventually I would like to add images to each term, but there are some copyright things to consider when posting up just anything.

I am in contact with the developer of the software behind it; he has not added in functionality to copy key words to a sub glossary (which is what I really, really, really want, meaning one master glossary could build out sub glossary systems, making this really powerful) and according to him he spitballed me about $750 USD for a custom development of said feature (we actually use a shitload of his software, he's my favorite developer for the add-on's we use.) But there is room for improvement, and a price tag to get there for options.

The glossary is getting some amazing traffic as well; we're showing over 18k views on it since it was created, so it's clearly getting crawled and indexed, and I'm hoping it will serve as a useful resource and tool for our growers and community.

This is outstanding, way better than excellent. Thank you,.

To give you an idea of the scope of this; I have probably another 600+ terms that I have intentions of adding. I've been sorting the terms on a spreadsheet that also includes category ideas for tags for them, so it should be relatively easy to build out subsets.

Decades ago I authored several thesauri (sci./tech. indexing/classification schemes). Thesaurus (with glossary a subset of this) construction/maintenance software easily should do what you need for a glossary. Such as see https://asindexing.org/about-indexing/thesauri/thesaurus-management-software/ to start, and I presume there is free software too.

I googled a few of the software suggested on the link; that might be out of our budget lol (I tried to find pricing for a few of them that requires a phone call to be made, that's never a good sign haha!)

There may be some free options that would work.

The software I'm using is a paid software add-on made for our forum software, there is some appeal to using software that integrates with what we already work with.

You cite "sorting the terms on a spreadsheet that also includes category ideas for tags for them." Excel or other spreadsheet can't do what is needed. You need software designed to at least meet your rather simple vocabulary management needs.

There should be a good amount of free indexing/classification/dictionary/thesauri/vocabulary control/etc. management software out there. If nothing else, many academics/researchers, libraries/information centers, publishers, etc. need this software. Also, most any data dictionary software should do the job. Or any good relational database should be adaptable, such as I've used FileMaker.
