New Grower using self watering containers

I just made a pretty simple self watering container. It's an inverted two liter bottle with two hoses glued into holes drilled through the cap. Like you guys said I wait till the pots feel noticably lighter to fill the res, then I detach the two liter, fill it with pH'ed water and soluable nutes, screw the cap back on and hang it from a line above my plants like an IV. The hoses lead straight into the soil. I test the run off for pH and it's drain to waste.
