silly question this but has any one any experience, using a uv sterilizer as a preventative measure for the control of pythium,would a dose of this help maintain a healthy environment in hydroponics.. I know if your system is dialed in properly then pythium should not be a problem,but then again we all not perfect...
 
I've not used one yet but will be installing one on my system in the near future. I've been reading up a little and they are effective in killing pythium. However, they should be installed on your water source, not on the system itself. This is especially true if you plan on using beneficial bacteria as the UV will kill them as well. So treat the water before it goes into your system.
